Primeau won't play in the first round; Johnsson not expected back

"Hitchcock said Primeau, who has been out since October with a concussion, will not participate in the first round of the playoffs, but left open the possibility of his captain returning sometime later if he is given medical clearance."

"The nameplates and equipment used by defensemen Kim Johnsson and Chris Therien were removed. Johnsson and Therien are not expected to return from their concussions."

Wow, and just a few weeks ago they thought Johnsson would be ready to go by now. I know they took Therien's locker space when Potulny came in, why did they have to do the same for Johnsson?

Ask Eric Lindros, he last played a full round in the playoffs 8 years ago

if he does, it will defintaly be a pay cut, and if he won't take a pay cut i think i'm looking at changing my handle (depending on where he goes). It will depend on how much he wants to come back here.

Fact of the matter is, when he was here, he was kind of solid defensively, but definetaly should have had better numbers. I was a bit dissapointed in his transition to the new NHL, I thought he would blow up.

I just hope that Clarke doesn't think Freddy Meyer can be Kim Johnsson, because he won't.

I think Johnsson is probably thinking more about a full recovery from post concussion syndrome rather than where he might play next season.

Johnsson won't have to take a paycut. He was making $2M, if he doesn't get hurt he'd likely have been looking at making around $4M. With the head injury he has no chance of seeing $4M, but I can't see him not getting an offer of $2M by someone.

He won't get anything if he isn't healthy.

When he is healthy, he'll get a deal. Best move for him would be to sign a one year deal, and then after (hopefully) proving he can stay healthy sign a long term deal.

All this and that ***** Cleary gets just a 2 minute penalty.

jovanovski should be available based on word that Vancouver plans on retooling. Would love to have him. I could picture him on the Flyers

That's about what any dirty play gets. 9 out of 10 at least. Cleary doesn't have that reputation though.

Someone will pay him much more than the Flyers are willing to.

He's terrible. If we're going to spend a wad of cash on a defenseman, I would MUCH rather go after Redden.

k, he's not "terrible." obviously Redden is better, and will cost considerably more, but Jovo wouldn't be a bad addition to the roster if that's an option over the summer.

i would LOVE to have Redden back there, especially if we let Johnsson walk away.

Lets not forget that MEYER has half a season of experience under his belt. He could definitely be a Johnsson in five years.

Nah. His offense is there, but not the defensive prowess or the size

Looks Redden will resign according to reports. I would love to haeve Chara but i think he will go for Chris Pronger money. Hopefully KJ gets back to 100% we sign him for less than he is worth. We have to let Rico retire as well, he was awesome but he is doing horrible in last few weeks here.

I know it's bad but you're right about Rico... to a degree. He has to be let go. As long as he's with the Flyers, Hitchcock will be playing him 30 minutes a night.

It's seriously mind-boggling why Hitch keeps doing that. For the life of me I cannot figure out why.

Cause Hatch and Rathje are both hurt (Rico amybe as well) other than that Pitkanen has ben making poor decisions and Gautier is a little bit of a liability. Other than that Meyer has played great since being called up I am really impressed with his ability to take a guy out singling him out into the boards its great cause he is so consistent with that. I think that if Hatcher and Rathje were healthy people would be very vyer happy with them and the NEW NHL would be less ofa topic with them. Hopefully we win this year, but if we can just stay healthy for next year then we could easily be monster favorites...
