4/23:Game 2 Ottawa Vs Tampa Bay CBC , 6 EST

GAME 2

VS
Sens Lead Series 1-0
When: Sunday, April 23, 2006 at 6 p.m.
Where: Scotiabank Place
Television: All games will be televised on CBC while games two to six will also be aired on OLN.
Ticket Availability: 150 tickets remained as of Satruday Night

THE STORY SO FAR

- The Ottawa Senators stormed back from a 1-0 third-period deficit in Game 1 at Scotiabank Place on Friday night to win 4-1. The third period explosion included two goals on the power play, one while short-handed and the final into an empty net. Itís the third time in team history the Sens have opened the playoffs with a victory , but the first time they opened Game 1 at home with a win.

OFFESNIVE SIDE

- Down by a goal, Martin Havlat got the ball rolling for Ottawa, scoring for the first time since returning from a long stay on injured reserve list with a shoulder injury. Just 1:07 later Jason Spezza gave his team the lead, also scoring on the power play , which turned out to be the game winner. The Sens had numberous chances in the first 2 periods but couldn't solve John Grahame who was great. The Sens must get the Power Play going earlier in the game in Game 2.

GAME STORIES

- The Sens will be looking to get off to a much better start than they did in Game 1 and will look for an early goal , and pick up some energy from the end of Game 1.

- The Sens took a total of 9 penalties in Game 1 and killed off every one except for a first period 5 on 3 goal. The team must get more dispilinced and the penatlies that are taken must continue to have strong PK.

- Comming off his first every playoff win and making 35 saves , Ray Emery will look to have another strong game

- The Sens must feed off the building energy and the crowd and use that as an advantage this time. Don't let Tampa take the crowd out of the game again until the third period. Set the right tempo early and SBP will be rocking.

- How will Schubert respond to getting into the lineup in place of Wade Redden who has returned to Saskatchewan to be with his family following his mother's death. There should be a moment of silence before tonight's game

PLAYER STATS *Courtesy GDT from Eastrern Conference Board

Jason Spezza 1 goal, 1 assist - 2 points (1 PPG, 1 GWG)
Dany Heatley 0 goals, 2 assists - 2 points

Mike Fisher 1 goal, 0 assists - 1 point (1 SHG)
Martin Havlat 1 goal, 0 assists - 1 point (1 PPG)

Vincent Lecavalier 1 goal, 0 assists - 1 point (1 PPG)
Dan Boyle 0 goals, 1 assist - 1 point
Brad Richards 0 goals, 1 assist - 1 point

GOALTENDING

Ray Emery (1-0-0) Game 1- 36 shots, 35 saves - 1.00 GAA, .972 SV%

John Grahame (0-1-0) Game 1- 37 shots, 34 saves - 3.05 GAA, .919 SV%, 1 ENG

KEYS TO VICTORY

OTTAWA

-Get off to an early start , get the first goal
- Rally around the absense of Redden
- Get the Power Play going early
- Feed off crowd/building energy (unlike Early Game 1)
- Take advantage of glorious oppertunity , to go up 2-0 for first time

TAMPA BAY

-If they get lead , maintain it and extend the lead
- Improve on Power Play , take advantage of chances
- Get Traffic in front of Emery
- Like all playoff road games , take crowd out of game

I'll be at the game, hopefully behind the Lightning bench! Look for the chick with the face painted and dressed like a train! ...and annoying the hell outta the Bolts.

If not, I'm in the last row of the 300's, lmao.

Looking at the stats from the last game, I'm curious to see if Tortella plays his top forwards to the same extent this time. Both Richards and Levacalier saw 25 minutes of ice time last game, with their other top forwards not far behind. It'll be hard for them to keep up that pace, and still be effective.

It'll be an interesting thing to watch during the series. If Ottawa can ever capitalize in the rare moments when their 3rd and 4th line are out, it forces Torts to play those the top lines even more.

Yeah but what good is he if he can't put the puck in the net and/or set up the other guys?

Perhaps, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they go with Schubert instead, unless it's a centre who goes down. They just don't seem to trust Arnason.

It would be interesting to know how he is responding to this turn of events. If he's pushing himself in practice and in the gym to get into the lineup, I guess that's encouraging, but from all we've heard, it could be that he's more or less resigned himself to his position.

I read on TSN that Wade's Mom passed away this morning, and that Wade has returned home to be with his family. Very sad news...our thoughts go out to Wade and his family.

That's awful. I guess you know it's coming, but still it's hard when it happens.

My thoughts are with the Redden family.

Tortorella said he would be playing his top players like he did in game one for the entire playoffs.

He also said he wasn't putting five forwards on the the powerplay and he was experimenting because of the inexperience of players like Ranger. Their powerplay may be just as susceptible to shorthanded breaks this time around

Very very sad and unfortuante news to read just waking up. You gotta feel for Wade and what he is going through , even though hockey is in the far back of his mind right now , you know hell try and be back as soon as possible.

While I am not gonna let this take away from my excitement and how pumped I am as I'm going to the game tonight.

Condolences To Wade and His Entire Family

Sucks.....really does suck , alrleady went through this with Chris Neil when he lost his mom and he was back 4 days later in the regular season that was amazing!

Hopefully Schubert can step in a play well and fill in for Wade for a little while.

It sucks for Redden.

With Schubert stepping in does anyone think we will see Olympic Schubert. He has played some damn good hockey in the last two olympics. I am expecting to see that Schubert, hope I am not dissapointed.

I'm sorry to hear about Wade's loss. It is a tough time in anyone's life.

I am happy to hear that the Bolts think it is a good idea to wearout their top forwards before the series even gets going strong. That can only mean good things for the Sens.

I'll be at the game too with my sister....somewhere in the 300's section. Not sure my....way for it.......SENS JERSEY.....could compete with the Train though.

On a sadder note, very sorry to hear the news regarding Pat Redden. I hope Wade and his family deal with this tragedy however they need to.
