GDT: Columbus Vs. Calgary

ok this is a must win for confidence in my eyes. You need to win a road game already. (Braces for almost inevitable letdown) Columbus 4-2.

Columbus has the usual decent game against Turek, Nash (PP), Vyborny (ES), Sydor (ES), Pirjeta (ES)

Reinprecht and Kobasew score for the Flames.

I say the CBJ win one for that lone nut cheering them on from right behind the bench.

I think you're all overlooking the fact that I'll be at the game.

Fritsche will see me in the stands and pot his first NHL goal.

Nash will add one, as will Klesla.

Leclaire will get the...

Oh wait, he's not there yet...

4-1 Columbus...someone else will tally too...

Its Jamie McLennan or Dany Saborian.
Krahn is in the ECHL last time I checked.

Klesla is still out with his injury, Aaron, so he won't be scoring. Lucky you, you get to the see the suckiness that is Walser in the flesh

This'll probably be an ugly game, even if Oliwaaaaah isn't dressed. Nichol isn't there anymore, but these two teams always seem to rub each other the wrong way. Calgary has a big defense size-wise, I think they can handle Nash if he's having an off game. I'm liking the lines the Dispatch had this morning. I'm guessing these lines are straight from Doug's mouth, since he commented on them in a story.

Nash-Cassels-Vyborny
Sanderson-Marchant-McDonnell
Shelley-Fritsche-Wright
Knutsen-Pirejta-Ling

Doug said the fourth line is not set yet, but the top three are. That third line is just the line we need against a phyiscal club like the Flames.

I also can't wait to see Saprykin play again. I thought he was very effective against the Jackets last season, pissing people off whenever he stepped on the ice. Kind of like a Euro version of Wright but with way more offensive upside. He looks like a keeper to me. Should be a great game tonight, hopefully the boys can pull it out and have a good feeling during this long layoff instead of sitting on a seven game losing streak.

I have a feeling Hypens is going to get to play, though I'm not sure who he'll replace. Just my gut.
I think CBJ lose 3-2 in overtime.
Jackets jump out 2-0 (Pirjeta, Marchant). Calgary gets it to 2-1 (Iginila) by the 3rd. With one minute left, Errik will make a bad pass and get burned on an odd man rush, Calgary ties it. Denis will break his stick and stab Errik with the shards. Confused refs won't know what to call on teammate-to-teammate violence and just decide to send Sandy to the box for interference. Calgary scores on the powerplay early in over time. Oh, and Gord Murphy will sufer some sort of injury.
But seriously folks, I think (hope) CBJ will pull this one out. Calgary is a beatable team and we have to start picking up these road wins. Starting right now.

Edit:Or, I could have just taken an Avatar from Metro, like so many of you do

GD'it...Klesla was out last year when I saw them play Edmonton. What a joke. I think the kid fears my opinion

I saw Walser suck last year too...time for something new.

My best guess is that Oliwa is dressing, plus it'll ruin his night. My roommate got us invited to a post game party by Oliwa, so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. I outfront told her if Columbus was heading back to the restaurant after the game (like the Buffalo Sabres did a few weeks back) then we're ditching Oliwa and the Flames to go hang with Ricky and Danny.

On a side note, not sure if Saprykin will be in the lineup...he was a healthy scratch two games ago, played thursday, but has had a very unimpressive year so far.

The third looks great out there. The fourth is doing a decent job as well.
I'd like to see the top lines get scoring.

Oliwa continues to be a total scrub. Shelley doesn't drop them after being crosschecked (which was an AMAZING move, if you ask me) and gets belted anyway - opening his face up to need stitches. Classy. The guy won't go, so you bare fist him anyway.

I normally don't complain about the officiating, because it's just bad and I expect that, but the refs have missed a cross check to the face, 2 holding penalties on the same shift and an interference call (plus one interference on us) so far.

I hope the Jackets step it up and start covering Iginla the rest of the night. Without Denis stoning him as he did in the first, it's 5-0.

If by "smoked" you mean punched in the face bare fisted while you have your gloves on then Shelley was SUPER SMOKED. The sad part about that, once you get past the fact that Oliwa in the league is the saddest commentary on the state of today's NHL, is that he couldn't do anything after that once Shelley decided to go.

Yes, unfortunately, While Shelley fits into the Enforcer category, Oliwa is all goon... like sandy mccarthy :moon:

Well, just got back from the OSU hockey game (good game, OSU 3 UAF 2)
and am not suprised to see the Jackets looking like they've already given up. Was the Shelley / Oliwa thing as bad as it's sounding???

Charlie Brown says " Uuuuhhgggg.........."

The horror........the horror.........
