Ladd will certainly add some grit to this line up.

No kidding. Ladd will hit anything that moves, and when you got guys like Komisarek dishing out the big hits, it would be nice to have a guy out there that will hit back.

The Habs played a great game the other night, but they need to try and keep the shots more even. We're going to wear Huet out if he has to make 40 saves a game. Give him a break for a change and outshoot the Canes for a change.

I personally don't think Carolina had that many shots on goal. I think the shot counter guy was a little jumpy.

No, Carolina did have that many shots on goal, just not very many quality shots or scoring opportunities. If we can keep them out of the slot and along the perimeter again, Huet will make all the easy saves.

I questioned the shot total as well, but I think if you look at actually good scoring chances the numbers were alot closer.

Ya for sure scoring chances were much closer. Maybe the shot counter guy was unaware that the puck had to make it to the goalie to be counted as a shot.

shot totals dont really matter in my opinion. Its all about scoring chances and the canes dident have that many. There shots werent dangerous. The habs did a good job in not letting them shoot from the slot. Stall had like 5 shots but all off them from along the boards and when they come from that area all the goalie has to do is to make sure he dosent give up any rebounds.

I read an article before, i think on the online montreal gazette, which said that carolina had 43 shots on goal, 11 shots that missed the net and about 20 that were blocked by the Habs. Hopefully we dont make a habit of letting a team like Carolina have the puck in our zone that much, wherever they are shooting from, but as long as we can continue to get 6 goals for every 20 shots we take, i think we will be ok

The Habs need to weather the storm the first 5 minutes and then slowly pick up their tempo and try to put the first goal past Gerber. If they do that they could rattle his and his teams confidence.

I'm expecting a big game from Zednik, the Canes' will be focused on Kovalev tonight.

I think Carolina is going to come out flying tonight. We need to weather the storm in the early going and stick to the game plan. If we limit the penalties I love our chances. I'm looking for the Habs to play really loose tonight. They should have no pressure at all which should bring out our best!

Our superstars need to continue to play like superstars. They need to have a mentality that they can't be happy with just splitting the 2 games in Carolina. I sure hope the habs aren't over confident after that first game because tonight will be a completely different game and Carolina will have a completely different strategy. I believe that Carolina will be a sharper team tonight and won't have as many brain cramps in their own zone. Gainey needs to tell Kovalev that in the first 5 - 10 minutes of the game, test Gerber with some quality shots and turn him into baby food. If Montreal continues playing their game by always skating forward and giving Huet good defensive support, we'll have a good chance to compete in this game.

It is amazing how the Canes went from being the worst team in the league to one of the best in a few short years.

Kovalev's comment about his first goal:

Quote:
''I just had too much space and too much time on my hands,'' Kovalev said. ''I could shoot anywhere I wanted. I felt like it was practice.''
This is the Kovalev we want and need.

Just as long as that quote doesn't piss off the Canes like Haseks did to a ton on this board when he refered to his shutout as "not counting" or as their players stating that that game fealt like a practice.

Pretty stupid comment if you ask me, in the PO's you make a purpose of not saying things to rile up your opposition.

When Alex is confident like this he is at the top of his game. We need him to be this way in order to go anywhere in the playoffs.

I agree, we need him at the top of his game but we don't need him shooting off his mouth pissing off the other team and giving them a special purpose to make him eat his words.

that can go for any player in the nhl..

when you give a good player time and space, he becomes great.
when you take away time and space, he becomes an average player.

hockey is all about time and space...the more you havem the better it is!
