Goaltending and special teams were the keys to game one - a look at both from game one will tell you why we won the game 6-1 - and I see no reason to doubt that they will again be the key factors in tonight's game.
Here's hoping that we stay out of the box tonight (Carolina's PP is better with Whitney in), capitalize on the chances we are given, and minimize the traffic in front of Huet. We need a very strong group effort tonight. Don't try and "weather the storm" - take the storm to them.
Look at it fron the Canes point, game one was for them about too many penilties and Gerber had bad game. Yes excuses !
The point is, fear was NOT installed on the Canes. They will come out
with energy and more defenceive play and less penilties.
This will be a much tighter game.
it will be a long series if the Canes win, but if the Habs win, the Canes will come to MTL with a bit of anger but also a bit of fear.
As Brind'amour says...Game 2 is always the most important game in the series. Either the Habs go home up 2-0 or Carolina is right back even. HUGE GAME!!!!
Also heard another interesting stat to dismiss the whole shot total arguement. In Game 1 Carolina outshot Montreal 2-1 BUT only had 2 more scoring chances (according to the stat man). So goes to show you that just throwing pucks on the net from everywhere doesn't mean you out play someone.
