perezhogin gave some great flash...

I think that he is getting more confident and he draw at least one penalty with is lightnings speed.

I think that zednik get the duo of perez-plek weeker but it's still a good line why dont we give them kovalev because ribeiro like i said earlier will be useless on 5 on 5 playoff... Let's just put him as the power play specialist and trade him this summer!

Why not leave the lines like they are since they seem to be working decently?

I would like to see Perezhogin at center.. imo he's more of a playmaker then shooter. If we didn't have so many centers he should get he's shot.

Do you think that Kovalev could play on two lines. He could step in ounce or twice per period with Perez/Pleks and have his regular shifts with Bulis/Ribeiro, no?

How can you justify changing the line after winning 6-1 in game 1 of the playoffs?

It's alot easier that you think.

I'm not saying that we should take out the line of Perez/Pleks/Zednik.. But just give more shifts, one or two per period, to Kovalev on that line.

Again I'm not saying that that line needs help. But I feel that we should give even more ice time ti Kovalev because he's the best player we've got and by putting him on more lines it could help the habs and the other players (not that they seriously need it) and maybe screw up a little bit the hurricanes match plan ( is that how we say plan de match??) because they're going to come back with a line to try to shut down Kovalev..

Ribs was pretty decent in his own territory. He even played superb body positioning on at least 2 occasions. He surprised me. Got his nose dirty.

You noticed that too, ehh. He did a few things, he made sure the puck was safe while his line changed, he closed off space in the neutral zone, things that normally aren't his strength.

You know, about the thread itself, every time you have a good day at work, you don't get a raise. Sometimes you have to show up and keep doing the same job.

I thought the line clicked well last night. Zed got some shots off from the slot. Good sign because he hadn't been finding open ice like that.

Good, then Koivu's line will have more space then. Gotta love MTL fans...

Nothing wrong with double shifting Kovalev once in a while.
I think that is a great idea, just every now and then remove a winger from any o fthe 1,3 or 4th lines and give Kovalev an extra shift if he wants it!

And Ribeiro did impress me very much so last game with his overall play even in the defensive zone he only had one bad shift!

The thread's going nowhere, but title is something we could DISCUSS..

Sasha played very well in the last few games, sepcially when paired with Koivu. Last game he was one of the noticible forwards on the team, did almost everything right... but there really seems to be a lack of understanding or confidance between him and Plekanec. Watching the line closely, you can count on one hand the number of times Thomas passes the puck to Zhogy.. Zednik is always the first choice; I would understand that if Zednik was on a hot streak, but he's obviously not.

A positive about Zhogy is that in the last 3 or 4 games he brought at least 1 PP per game, and while it wasn't mentionned by many people, Zhogy didn't take much stupid penalties since he was sent down to Hamilton... the kid is improving, a lot.

I know the playoffs is not the time to experiment, but I think that in the case that Ryder can't produce in the first 3 games, Zhogy should wing Saku. They really seem to click...

edit: discuss.

Indeed he did. Bumped Weight off the puck with a nice solid check at one point as well. I cringed when I saw the size mis-match between Ribeiro and Vasicek down low at one point, but Ribeiro played him well. Mind you, it did help that Vasicek played Game One like a softy.

They would definetly click...with a line like that you obviously want them to play intensly and shutdown the other team. They WOULD click.

I never said they would click offensively...I just said they would click.

Look... Saku had a great olympic tournament not because Selane is that much more talented that Kovy is, but because their game complimented each other... I think Perez does fit well with Saku.. more than Ryder does.
