Next seasons Roster!

Who would u like back, who do u want to bring up? what Free Agents are u hopeful for? Here is what i would like....

Rucinsky/Straka - Nylander/Richards - Jagr
Prucha - Immonen - Sykora
Dawes - Helminen - Ward
Hollweg - Moore/Betts - (Weller) Ortmeyer

Scratch: Orr, loser of Betts and Moore

Rookies added: Immonen, Helminen, Dawes

These guys add a bit more talent then some of the current players, with more offensive threat rather then relying on Jagr doing it all. Plus maybe someone to replace ortmeyer for an upgrade? Like weller?. Moore and Betts fight it out for 4th line centre. Hopefully get Richards as a legit first line centre, or bring back Nylander.

For Defence:

Tyutin - Kasparitas
Malik - Rozsival
Staal - (Poti if no one from free agency)
Strudwick

Get rid of Ozo bring in Staal, resign Rozsival for 1 more season

I'm not familar with Helminen, Richards, or Dawes but I want these guys in for sure. I want Rucchin in there. Ruchinsky will probably go, he didn't have that great of a season. I'd also maybe like to pick up another D man, either a vet or a young gun.

Nylander Straka Jagr
Prucha Immonen Sykora
Betts Rucchin Ward
Hollwegg Moore Ortmeyer

*Betts with the faceoffs though.

Malik Rozival
Staal Poti/Pock
Tytuin Kasper
Strudwick

Richards is a restricted free agent I believe. Please no Poti. I'd rather have Pock in there then him. If we can sign a Chara, Redden or Jovo, i'd say let Rozival walk beacuse he is going to want a large pay increase for being the co-winner of the +/- award, as Malik did after the last NHL season. If ruchinsky can be had cheap, he's a definite sign. He has had a point per game I believe, even though he was injured for a good part at the end of the season. Gotta keep Jagr happy so Straka will be back as well. What the lines will be? No idea

Can't go with this lack of toughness again, get some physical bodies, get a power forward to play with Jagr and Nylander, and get some tough defense.

When we traded him, I trusted management in knowing what he would bring to this team. But, my gut instinct said why. When I heard we brought in Ozolinsh, I had to think back and wonder if he has been on this team before in the last 9 years! Why? Because he seemed so out of fit for this team, which puts responsibility and hard work before personal desires. It seemed like an old Rangers move to bring in some over the hill All-Star, and it seems that's what they did.

Shame on management for that trade, shame.

there's no way that this team

can go into another season without a solid playmaking center. I'd prefer a true 1st line center like Sakic, with Nylander moving to his natural 2nd line spot.

Additionally, as someone mentioned, we are WAY WAY to soft up front and we need some beefage that can actually play the game, some gritty players that do not fear the trenches of playing in front of the nets and looks forward to attempting to screen the goalies.

And on Defence, Chara!!! nuff said.

The secondary scoring on this team is horrendous, We need a center that can set up the likes of Prucha and Sykora is an absolute must for next season.

We made great strides this season and players like Ortmeyer and Moore and Hollweg will be better for it (but even they have to score more)

looking forward to the off season to see what changes Sather has up his sleeves to keep the ball of progress moving in the right direction.

this team aint going NO WHERE without a TOP DMAN.... and with Chara, Redden, even Kubina and Morris on the market, they have no excuses

They also need a fking scorer

The Rangers definitely need to get bigger and tougher at forward and improve the defense. Say hello to Staal and at least on UFA defenseman.

We need a Chara, and a few tough d-men. We also need a power forward for Jags, a Knuble type, Roberts? Tucker? One of that variety

I'd go after a top-six forward that can mix it in front a bit like Mark Parrish or Jason Arnott and a top pairing defenseman.

if we get chara and a line 1 or 2 center i see no reason why we cant be favorites in the east as long as we stay healthy.

im not sure who we can get up front but redden or chara would be perfect for our blueline

rucchin can be let go
ozo can be bought out or serve his time out in hartford
poti will not be back
my mind isnt made up on straka yet, he has great wheels but he was pretty invisible at the end of the season

rucinsky-nylander-jagr
?-?-sykora
prucha-betts-ward
hollweg-moore-ortmeyer

roszival-malik
chara-tyutin
kasper-pock

lundqvist-weeks

sc: orr, strudwick, ?

the question than becomes 2nd line lw and 2nd line center, do we go with immonen or do we bring someone in? id prefer we add some size one that 2nd line lw, not sure who

regardless chara or redden should be a top target, followed by either a 2nd line lw or center

poti, ozo, and rucchin can go and straka im not sure, lets see whos available

If it were up to me Rucinsky, Rucchin, Poti, and Rozsival would be gone with additions of a another veteran goal scoring threat(pipe dreams of Elias/Samsonov), a rookie at forward(Immonen), sign one of Chara/Redden/Kubina. Re-sign Strudwick, Sykora, and Straka. This is assuming Ozolinsh and Malik are untradable. My most realistic D:

Chara-Tyutin
Kasparaitis-Staal
Malik-Ozolinsh
Strudwick

If there was a way to get rid of Malik/Ozolinsh, I'd keep Rozsival around. Screw it, if it were up to me and dreams came true my top seven would be:

Chara-Tyutin
Witt-Staal
Kasparaitis-Rozsival
Strudwick

Straka-Nylander-Jagr
Samsonov-Immonen-Sykora
Prucha-Moore-Ward
Hollweg-Betts-Ortmeyer
Orr

This team is still not gonna perform well in the playoffs, but we add two rookies, and gain some toughness on D. If Sather's really pissed off about this run, which he shouldn't be, he'll go out and get a Doan/Morrow/Cole for some NA, north-south, gritty offensive forward.

Or he could just trade up to get Kyle Okposo/Chris Stewart.

im not sure why everyone has staal penciled in, last i heard was he had a rough start in hartford and i just dont expect him to win a spot in camp, i think slats will sign a ufa, bring back roszival and possibly pock or another kid will win a spot

I think at the least just to keep cohesion, Straka should be re-signed. Although you do bring up a good point, it's very hard for an older, smaller guy like Straka to carry the team on his back and not be invisible. You might not see stats, but I saw a guy unlike Nylander, who was taking the body full force, hustling each and every shift, watching him I saw a guy that really cared. I don't know, it just seems as though maybe a Samsonov/Elias would be sexier, but Straka seems a great model for the youth.

Now for Rucinsky OTOH, I hope the handshake deal goes away quietly. I don't see a Rucinsky leave as effecting the team.

what if....

straka-dubinsky-jagr
prucha-immo-sykora
dawes-betts-ward
hollweg-moore-orts

i know its reach, with dubinsky and all, but you guys said you wanted a gritty playmaker and he is certainly one.

nylander would also give us a solid draft pick, and we keep sykora and straka to keep jags happy.

nylander will be back

straka works very hard and i cant really make my mind up unless im sure we can bring someone who is an improvement over him, id prefer some size, now id be for keeping straka if we lost rucinsky, but overall i think rucinsky is a better player, straka hustles more, but rucinsky can score goals and create plays whereas straka is only as good as the players around him

i dont see dubinsky making the team, but hey thats just my opinion

If Dubinsky keeps progressing at the exponential rate he is now, I don't think it is a reach for him to make the team as much as it is a stretch to pencil him as the number one center to play with Jagr.

At this point, I'd rather just say keep him in HFD to let him show that his stepping in and "dominating" the AHL PO's wasnt a fluke.
