As a Leaf fan, I'm used to seeing scary eye incidents, but each time it happens you get that awful feeling in your gut.

I sincerely hope Saku is OK. He's a classy guy and on behalf of Leafs fans, we return the well wishes and kind words you had for us when Mats went down in October.

Get well soon, Saku.

OK, if it's above the eye, why the hospital then? Could be the orbital bone, right?

Cautionary reasons most likely. Like concussions, i think anything around the eye has guys going to hospital.

Cut above the eye, "points de suture" were made.

Exams with a specialist at the hospital to be sure the eye is OK.

I'm a bit less frightened, but we'll have to wait tomorrow to be sure.

Oh, Gainey said Koivu will have exams tonight OR tomorrow. If it was very bad, it would have been done tonight for sure...

I think his eye will be OK. Not as bad as Sundin I think, and we can assume that he won't be another Berard.

But still.

Man I hope this is just a cut above the eye.....if it is, it probably isn't out of the question that he could put on a full shield and return.....

I have my doubts though, if the stick actually got him in the eye it could be bad.

However if you think about....

Williams stick came up under the visor so it probably would have been tough to actually catch the eye-ball, hitting the top of the orbital bone does kind of make sense.

God, Koivu is my favourite player of all-time I sure hope he is ok and can return to lead the Habs to a victorry.

Like you, I am also worried.

The fact that it was over the eye doesn't clear Koivu yet. If the force of the stick was hard enough, it could do severe damage anywhere along that area.

My thoughts are with you tonight Saku. The game is really secondary to this right now.

Unless he wears a full face mask, I doubt he'll play on friday because of the swelling. I suspect Mr. Bégin will be back...with a vengeance.

Bob Mac just said that Gainey confirmed there was a cut above the eye and a cut on the eye itself.
