Call me silly but this reminds me of the game against the Avs in October where we came back from 3 goals down to beat them 5-4.

Like Trotz's style or not, Detroit put the clamp on us because of personnel and Vokoun, Walker, Legwand, Sullivan, Perreault, and Zidlicky coming up lame late in the season is going to give him a legitimate pass on this season.

I think the prevailing opinion was that this wasn't our year anyway. It was our best team, but it was inherently flawed because we're still in that awkward transition from expansion team to playoff team. Outside of Sully and Kariya, our most talented players are our most inexperienced players. You gotta take your lumps sometime when you're up and coming. Look at our playoff brethren in Ottawa the past several seasons. That has been our model.

and, unless there was an article i didn't see that stated otherwise, I don't think Vokoun's blood situation was caused by anything Trotz did strategically.

I guess that wasn't a penalty on the Shark either. They get/got away with ****ing murder, while if we even touch a Shark to aggressively we get called.

Sillenger was pissed off, and he had a right to be. Kariya got mauled, no call. Just unreal.

If Bettman wasn't at this game, perhaps the outcome would have been different. I bet Erat wouldn't have been penalized after McClaren skated into him after the whistle was blown.

Hopefully, Bettman will get a case of the runs for the next two months.......

Mason letting in 5 goals on only 24 shots... i wonder if Trotz is going to pull a Tortorella and slam his goalie...

Sadly the reffing is seriously bad leaguewide, ie the Montreal game last night, Koivu nearly loses his eye and not a single call is made. It's not just Bettman.

Mason cost us the game. This was about as bad as the Chicago game for him.

This team has been left for dead plenty this season. Maybe I'm wrong but I see two games out of their 3 wins being won on 5 on 3 PP advantages. The other one was in their building where we were down 2-1 with 10 minutes to play.

I'm willing to ride it to the bitter end and see what happens.

Alright at least we started to finally get the puck in the net again.

Mason had a pretty bad game yes.

As NMK pointed out, we seem to have a serious problem putting a good offense and good defense game together in the same night.

I really hope we can see it come together back home, if for no other reason than I'd at least like to see this series go to game six, it's been entertaining.

I wouldn't count on the Sharks eliminating the Preds on Sunday. This series could easily be 3-1 in favor of the Predators barring a few lucky bounces in favor of the Sharks. Yeah, the Sharks will probably end up winning this series in 6 or 7 games, but a healthy Predators team would have easily annihilated the Sharks!

Toskala's problem dislodging the net whenever he gets "worried" or "pressured" is really irritating! I wish Bettman's monkeys would hand out some fines to Toskala and Wilson.

Its funny to me that the almighty Sharks *barely* scraped by with a win tonight playing against a heavily injured Predators team missing their best player (Vokoun). No way the Sharks get out of the 2nd round....

Go Predators!

We played more wide open tonight, closer to what we play when Vokoun is in the net. The result was more offense. It also showed how weak Mason is, which is why we haven't played this style with him in net.

Agreed, the game was more open and we used our speed.

That said, we need 2 things:

We need to play this style, and we need Mase to step it up.

Also, even being gone for as long as he was Zids had some great shots on net and we nearly got some rebound goals off his shots on Tosk.

I was impressed with the Preds game today. Came out strong and you can see how Zidlicky and others really help this team. If they were at full strength. I think this series goes 7.

If we're at full strength it would have been totally different, if you mean that sullivan can actually skate and Walker isn't wearing a cast on his arm and Vokoun is in net.

you've been down on mason most of the year...and a lot of the time i agree with you...on most things...but i don't see tonight as his fault. the sharks...if they're given that 5 on 3...are going to score, and I don't think Vokoun changes that. The Smith goal....okay...but again, it was a power play and he was wide open for that laser. The Rissmiller goal was a perfect deflection...the Marleau goal he went down too early on, but to be fair, Marleau switched hands with his stick, going from "not a chance at a shot" to "almost a sure goal."

Could he have been better? Yes...but it didn't help that we didn't bother with playing any sort of urgent came until the last 5 minutes. We see what happens when you get pucks on Toskala...opportunities. That means...no dumping it in and setting up the perfect cross crease pass, no working from behind the net....if the Preds are to have ANY life in this series, it's going to have to be a much simpler game than we've been trying to play. I called for all out offense after the last game...and I stand by it. If we have to win a game 7-6, then we stand a lot better chance than trying to win a game 2-1.
