I know that sounds vicious, but I would do it if I was playing for the Habs. I'm not saying with a cheap shot, but if he was in a corner or has his head down, I hope Souray, Rivet or Komi would put a little bit of extra and hits him the hardest they could. I know, the high stick was not intentional but he is responsible with his stick. It's like a drunk driver that hits someone on the street. Anyways, I'm going to sleep and when I wake up, I'm hoping that RDS would have this on their frontpage: "Plus de peur que de mal pour Saku"!

Exactly, call up some piece of crap and hammer the living daylights out of Williams. Make it so he can never lift his stick above his waist ever again.

I don't think starting the next game gunning for Williams is going to advance the cause. A penalty should have been called - however, there is no way that was intentional, and I think Koivu would agree, warrier that he is, that accidents happen in the fast pace of playoff hockey.

If so, then why the revenge? It would be extremely vicious. I'm also mad about loosing when playing a strong game and sad about the Koivu injury, but let's not get oveboard. I just hope Saku will be fine and hope for a good series. Congratulations for Ward and the Canes for a good effort.

Careful, you might end up being a grownup with that kind of talk. I've got an idea, next game, score more than the Canes.

It was definitely an accident, so no "shenanigans" are called for. BUT, a player is responsible for his stick, and it's your captain. So I think putting some more emphasis and vigour in their checks would be an appropriate response, as long as they don't get themselves out of position to do it.

Please. If you wanna send a real message, send their ***** to the golf course as soon as possible. That'll sting more than a few checks by Brouillon.

I second that!
And if you really want to be really nasty, go win the cup and plan a parade in Carolina. That is a real a$$ kicking attitude!

The canadians need to take matters into their own hand at times. During the season if someone attacked huet, Komi or Sourray would go after him. I think it was Komi that went straight after the guy during a season game and puimmeled him to the ground. The canadians then killed the penallty. If the refs are blind, then we gotta protect our captain. Komi or someone big should have gone straight after the guy and crushed him. 'an eye for an eye'. I think we would have killed the penalty that would have resulted. We lost anyways, but we also lost our pride. We cant protect our captain.

This thread is why I am at times embarassed to be a Habs fan.

The incident was a complete accident. No need to think revenge. The only thing the Habs need to do is channel energy into winning a very important Game 4.

Pride ? What are you talking about ? We lose a guy to an accident, and you want to take a chance on blowing a playoff game to massage a phony sense of machismo ? Jump JW and pound him, that'll stop future attempts to lift sticks and make the refs watch more closely.

I'm sure if Koivu had a message for the bench it would involve composure and winning. Protect our captain ? Aiiee, better take my meds.

I second that, also we should be more worried about Saku, if there is a cut on is his there could be a possibilty that he doesn't play another game in the NHL.

I'm not one to blame the reffing, but I don't think Williams is the only one to blame. Marouelli is one veteran ref and like others like him, he seems to struggle with the new rules. Or to at least apply the old ones...

edit to add : "revenge is best served on ice..."

Who comes in on Friday to replace Koivu?
Is Begin ready? If he is not ready who goes in?

I think this is a more important question. Also what does BG do to prepare this team. Game 4 will be pivotal. The Bell Centre needs to be rocking.

Personally, I don't think Begin will be ready, so I would put Kostistyn in the line-up, over Downey. Bit of a gamble, I know.

Line-up options:

A
Higgins-Bulis-Ryder
Kost-Ribs-Kovalev
Perezhogin-Plekanec-Zednik
Murray-Bonk-Sundstrom

B
Higgins-Bonk-Ryder
Bulis-Ribs-Kovalev
Perezhogin-Pleks-Zednik
Kost-Murray-Sundstrom

If you play Kost, he's no use on the 4th line. It's either the 2nd or Downey on the 4th. I'm not against playing him, to beat a hot goalie, you better bring your best snipers and Kost definately fills the profile. So I would probably go with your A solution but Gainey will go with your B and put Downey instead of Kost. Gainey didn't want to use Lapierre who was a better fit at one point and didn't use him so he won't use Kost, unfortunately. Wolski does it, I don't know why Kost wouldn't.
