I don't think that's correct. Yes, Ozolinsh would have to clear waivers to be sent down, but if another team claims him, they take his contract. It's only if he clears waivers and then is re-called that another team can claim him and we get to pay half his salary.

that is NOT true...what you are describing applies to re-entry waivers.

if the rangers send him down to hartford and he gets claimed on waivers, that team has to pay 100% of his salary and takes 100% of the cap hit.

but if he clears waivers, plays in hartford for a bit and then due to injury the rangers try to recall him they must put him on re-entry waivers. if someone claims him on the way up THEN the rangers would pay 1/2 his salary and take 1/2 the cap hit...

this is why the devils never recalled mogilny
