Primeau MIGHT play yet..

Quote:
Ed Moran | Primeau out to return this week

BUFFALO - Turner Stevenson and Keith Primeau were standing at center ice long after everyone but the scratched players had left HSBC Arena.

They were tired, dripping sweat and breathing heavy from a fast-paced game of four-on-four with two members of the coaching staff and the other Flyers not playing in Game 2 last night,

after also having taken part in the morning skate.

Stevenson wasn't done, and he was challenging Primeau to one more drill. So he pointed around the rink and called for 10 pucks to be lined across the blue line. He wanted a series of sprints, one full lap around the rink at full speed, and then 10 shots.

It didn't go unnoticed on the bench where trainer Jim McCrossin and Dr. Gary Dorshimer were sitting and watching

closely.

"Ten-for-ten," Dorshimer said after Primeau took his shots.

It was probably a good thing Dorshimer stayed behind to watch; he and others from the Flyers' medical staff likely will be asked to participate in a decision very soon on whether to let Primeau back in the lineup for the first time since he was sidelined in October by a concussion.

That decision time could come today, it could come tomorrow, or it could come later this week, depending on how the Flyers' captain feels.

If Primeau has his way, he will be stepping onto the Wachovia Center ice as a player tomorrow night in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Buffalo Sabres. If not tomorrow, then Friday for Game 4. It's what he wants. And what he now feels he can do.

"I'm close. I feel I'm close," he said.

maybe this will give us something..

It's a new series if Primeau comes back, as long as the series isn't 3-0

Primeau on the Carter line would be nice, but...

Maybe they should put him on a line that has a bigger target than himself. I mean, the last thing they need is for Campbell to become a two-hit wonder all over Primeau's brains.

This is TREMENDOUS news if true. The Flyers will be so pumped to have him back. However, you can't help but remember what happened to Lindros against Jersey when he came back to play after having concussion syndromes.

Him stepping on that ice with the C on his chest will make all the difference to this team. After last night I would pull out all the stops, get any player with heart we can. 25 is wear it starts, he has the most out of any flyer in the past 5 years. If they doesn't work pull Keith Jones out of the booth and bring JR back.

for about 5 minutes until the fact that he might not be able to keep up with the game becomes a giant liability.

well if you can afford to give donald brashear 5 minutes of ice time...
primeau isnt much more of a liability plus he has the emotional/leadership upside.

well i would have happily given Brashear's spot on the bench to Radio in game 1... may have helped us win that game. i'm happy for Primeau if he comes back... however, i do not think he's going to be capable of leading this team anywhere ON the ice with his play... i also think he is going to sustain another traumatic concussion with ease (regardless of when he comes back) and that he should probably retire... which is very unfortunate.

I don't want Keith to come back this season. The team doesn't deserve to have him on the ice. He's the heart and soul of the hockey team, and not one of these little girls has stepped up to even TRY to fill his shoes. No one! Why should he go out there and sacrifice for a bunch of guys who don't even care any more?

You think our PK can actually get worse with him in the lineup? How about faceoffs? Or the rest of the team that already cant keep up?

they were good in game 1... look, if he had played more than 10 games in the past 2 years he would be a HUGE boost to this squad... but he hasn't been playing, it sucks, but that's the way it is.

What would be crazy is if they started cheering like madmen and then the team went down 3 goals in the first 5 minutes. The crowd would turn on him like a pack of wild dogs.

Esche was certainly good... but as Ruff said himself, the PK did a good job in game 1 of denying the plays down low where they BUTCHERED us in game 2.

you mean, Robert Esche was good.
game 1 could have easily been 8-2 as well.
we need something.

One man couldn't change the play of a bunch of chumps. Half of them suck, half of them have the "rookie" excuse and the rest underachieve ( Forsberg )

If they are bringing him back it makes sense for him to make his big return on home ice. After last night's performance I think the fans in the Wachovia are going to need something to get them cheering. Even if he only plays limited shifts it might give the team a lift. God knows it needs one.

dont think the scenerios are the same IMO. in 2000 the Flyers were up 3-1 when they said Lindros was coming back and it totally f'd up the team chemistry that team had. This team is in bad need of a boost and to have Primeau come out there, hell even if he only plays 5 or 6 minutes a night would be a tremedous moral boost. If he skates out with this team tomorrow night or for game 4 if we happen to win game 3 this series would be far from over.
