It just confirms what what said by Team 990. As far as the ''2 weeks'' is concerned, I have no idea how CKAC came with that timeframe.....

Take it from someone that went through a sundin and berard eye injury. It will take at least 2 weeks before the blood completely drains out of the eye so that they can more accurately assess any possible damage done. With that said, if his eye isnt damaged, and he can see fairly well, he may return faster than he would if he sustained this injury in the regular season. However, its not very likely that he will see ok even if there is not much injury to the eye, after the blood is out, there is a lot of blurryness and it takes much time (even after you start playing again) to get your eyesight back to 100%.

if there is a positive, there is no surgery, and they are letting the eye drain on its own rather than doing something themselves.

Good luck Saku

I hope Saku is okay.

I hope the team plays extremely hard in the hopes of winning the series for him.

I hate to see the pic or the clip of Saku injured...it looks like the eye is missing

Anyways, I think we have shown in the past that we have some character player and we can still win the series for sure. And maybe this injury will boost the team, we never know.

Get well fast Saku!

The blood in the eye is called an Hyphema and it takes about 48 to 72 hrs to drain. However, there are risks (25%) of bleeding again in the 5 first days (that's why he is at the hospital).

2 weeks seems right if he only have an hyphema.

I really hope it's the case...

I'm quite relieved that he apparently still has 2 eyes.

I hope it gets back to 100% no matter the time frame.

Beat Williams and the Canes on the scoreboard and in the series...that's the best revenge.

I don't agree with you on the bolded part. I want Koivu to lift the Cup this spring. And be a factor in the playoffs and the final game, not a spectator.

I've got to go back to France at the end of the summer.

I badly want him to play in the first game of the second round.

As much as we would like to have Saku back with us tomorrow night,we must be fortunate that he may still have his sight and be backin a few weeks to put the finishing touches on these playoffs...
Get well soon Saku,we'll miss ya and we will close this series in your honor.

Right now, I really don't care if Koivu comes back in this series, or in these playoffs for that matter. What I care about is that he can recover 100% at some point, and resume his career. I am really worried about this situation, and I hope the positive news starts rolling out.

We'll have to wait again. I think it's not critical, otherwise I believe they would have already figured it out. Does anyone know what was the news agenda for Berard after his injury ?

I still think it's not as bad as Berard, and if Berard could resume his career, Koivu will, no doubt in my mind.

I'm still afraid his sight might be permanently affected, but not something surgery or just lenses can't take care of.

Oh well, that's just guess on my side based on the way the news are released. I didn't expect the cancer at all when he was in hospital due to his stomach pain.

I wish the doctors would at least tell us what are the odds of being this problem or that one based on what they could see until now. I know we're not his family or anything but I love the guy so much.
