I don't know, we have enough talent on the wings. I'm more concerned about how the loss of Koivu will affect Higgins and Ryder more than anything.

Just saying.

I like this move more than putting another grinder in....kost can play on the PP if needed and hopefully add some offence 5 on 5....

The real question is what are the line combinations going to be? Who's going to move to centre....we have a few players who have experience at centre....bulis higgins....I recall bulis playing back at centre awhile and looked pretty good.

You're kidding right? This is exactly what I wanted to see. I'm still skeptical though, won't believe it till I see it. Projected lineup;

Bulis - Ribs - Kovalev
Higgins - Bonk - Ryder
Perez - Plek - Zednik
Kost - Murray - Sundstrom

What I hope for;

Kost - Ribs - Kovalev
Higgins - Bulis - Ryder
Perez - Plek - Zednik
Murray - Bonk - Sunny

The 1st line imo would tear it up, and it isn't AS defensively liable as ppl may believe (Ribs imo has been very defensively sound recently).

That's a good lineup, but it leaves risk defensively.

Edit: Try switching Ribs and Bulis?

Bulis - Ribeiro - Kovalev
Ryder - Higgins - Kostitsyn
Perezhogin - Plekanec - Zednik
Murray - Bonk - Sundstrom

That's what I'd like to see.

Don't think Ribs will be taken away from Kovy, they've both played great together so far.

But you see know what I'm saying about why Bulis is there, right? I can't see Kotsy filling that role.

Perez - Ribs - Kovalev
Higgins - Bulis - Ryder
Zednik - Pleks - Sunny
Murray - Bonk - Kost

Stop the "Bulis can't take faceoffs"...
Ribs and Bonk weren't any better during regular season.

To be fair Bulis hasn't been great defensively since labeling himself as an offensive player (hasn't been bad either). I don't see Gainey moving Higgins back to center, but it is a possibility after all. It would be wonderfull to see the lines Mjb posted, but I don't see Higgs moving.

You just f'd up every single line. They've got chemistry going. The Perez - Plek - Zednik line is doing great, no reason to change that, same with the Bonk line (unless Bonk centers the 1st line).

We don't need to switch the lines that are working:

Bulis-Ribeiro-Kovalev
Perezhogin-Plekanec-Zednik
Ryder-Higgins-Kostitsyn
Murray-Bonk-Sundstrom

Yup and for some reason you both screwed up the wing that Kost and Ryder play

Donít underestimate Kostitsyn, in the matches he played he showed better defensive awareness than Perezhogin. Also, Kostitsyn played 2-3 matches with Bulis centering him, if Iím not mistaken, and they did pretty well together. But it was only in 2 or 3 matches and it was regular season.
No matter what lines you put together there is always a risk: Higgins, Murray have not played in the center for ages. Bulis played several matches in Regular season, and his most successful matches were with Kovalev on his wing. Take away Kovi from his or Ribeiro wing and their game wonít be so effective.

Bulis-Ribeiro-Kovalev
Higgins-Plekanec-Ryder
Zednik-Bonk-Perezhogin
Kostitsyn-Murray-Sundstrom

I don't know how good Higgins is at center since he hasn't played there all year, he has good chemistry with Plekanec. Then again, I don't know how good Murray is at center, we need Begin.

Those lines would be good, but I'm not so sure that would should split Plek from Zednik and Perez seing as they've done so well. I must say though, seeing what Gainey has done throughout the year, I don't see him playing Kost on any other than the 4th line and the PP. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

I don't think Kost will enter the lineup on the fist 2 lines.
I don't think any of our current wingers could be moved to center except Bulis or possibly Murray on the 4th line.
I don't see Pleks moving between Higgins and Ryder (need veterans)
Sunny has already played well with Zednik.
Perez has already played well with Ribs and Kovy.

I think we won't have much choice but to change a couple lines...
we need to keep Ribs with Kovy and Pleks with Zednik tough.

It'll be fun to see what Gainey comes up with tomorrow...
does he go all offense on the first 2 lines or does he come up with a more defensive lineup...

Higgins-Bonk-Ryder
Bulis-Ribeiro-Kovalev
Zednik-Plekanec-Perezhogin
Kostytsin-Murray-Downey

Those are the lines I would really love to see, even If Kost Is on the 4 line I think Gainey will use him more often probably swaping him and Perez all game long and he could also see some time on th PP.I add Downey and scratch Sundstrom, not because Sundstrom played bad but more because Downey can bring energy with Is hits, something Sundstrom will never do
