Chistov-Getzlaf-Lupul=Kariya-Rucchin-Selanne?

It's pretty clear that the line of the Ducks' future is Chistov-Getzlaf-Lupul, but is it just me or is this way alot like the Kariya-Rucchin-Selanne line?

Chistov is so much like Kariya, small playmaking left winger who can score goals as well. He's gotten comparisons all the time to Kariya. Getzlaf, a big centerman, is so much like Rucchin in ability, a big center who can play in both ends of the ice and can score every now and then. And Lupul, a big right winger who could easily one day lead the league in goals, so much like Selanne.

So really, is it just me, or does anyone else see the comparison?

I'll give you a hint. None of these guys will ever be in an Avs uniform.

uhh, sure thing buddy...has nothing to do with the conversation at all...but whatever
take a long walk off a short wharf.....

Anyway, it's a valid comparison, but I think Getzlaf will be better then Rucchin and Lupul and Chistov will end up being different players then Kariya and Selanne.

Its a fair comparison based on styles of play.

Lupul will play more gritty that Selanne but won't have quite as impressive of moves.

Chistov will never have as good of shot as Kariya. Will never score as many points unfortunately.

Of the three Getzlaf is the one who may be better than the player you compare him too. He can do the things Rucchin does plus he may be a better natural scorer and he also doesn't mind dropping the gloves.

I do agree this may be our first line in 2-4 years.

Tim Brent centering Corey Perry and someone else for our second line as well?

Wow. Look at the future top two lines.

Chistov-Getzlaf-Lupul
Perrault-Brent-Perry

That's awesome. Especially if all the guys develop well.

Right...(Grumbles up some sarcasm) I think, if Lupul can be more physical(possibly becoming a Power Forward), I think that line would better than the old, PK/TS line. Although, I think Brent deserves more of a 3rd line job for Grinding and digging(possibly playing against other top lines as well)*grumbles up some more sarcasm*

I'm hoping Lupul develops into a good player like Ryan Smyth. He has the ability to score and a decent size body enough. But does he have the "ganas" to sacrifice his body like Ryan Smyth? Does he have the character to lead us? We will find out.

Chistov needs to play a little more self-fish. I never thought I would encourage a Russian player to be more self-fish but Stan plays too much within the system. Sometimes, I wish he just take that puck and challenge someone one on one.

Perry is underweight and yes he does fall alot in camp. We'll get a better look at him next summer. I wouldn't put too much stock in what we saw in rookie camp. Perry is a good player.

What about Sykora leclerc McDonald and prospal?

are we talking three years down the road?5?10?
the next 5 or so we will be having guys like Sykora,Leclerc and McDonald in the primes of their careers and Rooch will still be around he's 30 I believe. We will also have Niedermayer who is only 28 and continues to get better...lets not forget our current blend with our future blend here that 2nd line makes me cringe.

next year we could see a 3rd line of Chistov,Getzlaf and Lupul with Fedorov,Sykora,Rucchin,Prospal,Nidermayer,Leclerc and McDonald all rotating around.

but with Babcock there is really no #1 line by always mixing things up.

best case Scenario?Getzlaf plays in Cincy next year with Perry we have McDonald Center Chistov and Lupul and Leclerc,Sykora and Niedermayer continue to improve

The future isn't so bleak we have a 2nd line of Perrault Brent and Perry that would mean we are screwed.

Well Perrault, Brent and Perry all have long term second line potential...I think that was the point...not that Rucchin,Nieds,McDonald,Leclerc,Sykora, etc. would all vanish in a few years.

Rucchin will be 35 in 3 years...with all the abuse his body's taken, I'd be surprised to see him play beyond his current contract.

The Kariya/Rucchin/Selanne line was awesome imo..
Chistov/Getzlaf/Lupul is fair and could be very good

Chistov does not have what it takes to be like Kariya... don't get me wrong i like Chistov a lot, but he has to make better decision making on the ice...
I see Getzlaf as surpassing Rucchin as time goes by...

Just an outsider's observation.

Lupul seems like a young Luc Robitaille. OK skater, no moves that are super special...but he finds open ice, decent shot and accurate.

Should be a good one.

I don't know if he is as pure a scorer on such a grand scale as Robitalle turned out to be, hopefully he is though it's way too early, but what strikes me about him is while he doesn't go out of his way to hit people, it seems like every so often he turns from Bruce Banner into the Hulk at certain points and decides to knock some people around...if only he didn't change back so quickly...

i agree.. he turns it up and calms down from his high.. i think you have to push his button first.. like knocking him down or checkig him in the boards.. i would like to see him crash the net more..
