Are you confident in Robert Esche this year?

I'm not so sure I am. Every time Buffalo shoots the puck on what should be an easy save I am afraid it will go in, like in Game 2 and the first goal of Game 3. Just a little uneasy feeling.

sorry to hear you say that...esche is a solid playoff goaltender, he showed in 04 and so far he's showing it this year (game 2 was NOT his fault)

Are you telling me none of the goals in Game 2 were not his fault?

ok well what about the first goal of game 3? and I think he looked shaky there - a couple times he looked behind him and had no idea he made the save...

from what i've seen of Esche, which isn't as much as you guys, he's looked solid, i'm pretty confident with him in net and he's one of the few players that's looked solid in every game so far this series.

Agreed. He's played well, and was incredible in game 1, but I'm never entirely comfortable when a shot is made.

I'm not, but right now it's his series to win or lose.

I'm not completely confident in him, Game 4 will determine my true feelings on him. What I do know is that at this point, it's already to late to put Niitty in.

The problem with Esche and Flyers goaltending has been the same for the past 5 years and I dont think any of you are pickign up on it. Yes, Esche did a great job in net in Game 1 and 3, but the problem is
HE IS NOT CONSISTENT!!!!
You can't be that confident in Esche. I can agree he is a better playoff goalie than regular season goalie, and I think most of you will agree with that.
But CONFIDENT
NO WAY!!!!!!

As most of you guys know.......I'm nor Esche's biggest fan. I will give him full marks for game #1........OUTSTANDING!!! Game #2 was horrific.........and game #3 we won so gives a ****?

Everytime a shot is made, I cringe having no idea where the rebound is going and if the d-men will be able to cover their men.

I voted "No, put Nitty in". I am not saying that he's far superior than Esche, I just feel more at peace and less nervous with him. Yes, he needs to work on his breakways.......but he's far better at controlling his rebounds.

Either way, no matter which is between the pipes.............LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!

That pretty much sums up my opinion as well. However, I'm not going to say that Esche is a better playoff goalie than regular season goalie based on one playoff run.

Honestly, the way Niittymaki played at the end of the season, I don't have a lot of confidence in either goalie. As others have said, Esche gives up so many big rebounds for my liking. Niittymaki just doesn't seem to have the same level of confidence that he had earlier in the season and during the Olympic run. Perhaps he is fatigued due to how much he has played this season?

How could Nitty be fatigued after not really playing for the past couple weeks?

He became fatigued after being overplayed during the stretch that Esche was out and then by playing in the Olympics.

Yea but I would think he's had enough rest by now if we needed him to play, he didn't look awful when he came in Game 2...REPLY FOR POST 2000
