Trust me. You are NOT the only one.

See you all next season!

Meh. Had to have seen it coming, no?

The writing was on the wall. All any of us had to go on was optimism coming into the series, there wasn't much good to say about the team then either.

I know three things now:

1. Speed kills
2. You cannot expect to win a Cup with almost everyone on the team suffering major injuries along the way
3. This offseason is crucial

We need a healthy KJ or a fast, offensive d-man replacement, another speedy winger (preferably a RW), and a new training staff. Drop the slugs, get one or two big UFAs, and continue to mix in the young talent.

Actually, this team looks way better for next season already. Just consider the number of rookies we've had. Richards, Carter, Umberger, Meyer with a year's experience? I love it already. Just dump Rathje somewhere for a 5th.

I am not concerned about the young guys. I am concerned about ditching the dead weight and replacing them with gamers. There will be some major turnover, and we should make some upgrades. Top 6 winger, top 4 d-man, possible center replacement for Primeau, etc.

I just hope the team finds someone who can help improve our special teams. If it was one thing that bit us on the backsides it was that our special teams were horrendous. There was no way anyone could expect us to contend for the Cup when our special teams were ranked in the bottom third of the league.

If Primeau is in fact done, I want a 3rd/4th line center who specializes in faceoffs and defensive play/penalty kills. I don't know who is available, but it would be a nice addition.

I believe Stephane Yelle is UFA, as is PJ Axelsson (but I think PJ is a wing, so no faceoffs).

I worry about a sophomore slump.

Don't worry, the sick feeling goes away in 2 or 3 days.

On a side note, isn't it odd that the 2 teams that were battling for the divsion all year long, end up losing it on the last day of the season and then get bounced in the first round of the playoffs.

Aren't you guys happy Bob Clarke addressed this need before the deadline? If it wasn't blatantly apparent to him then, it will be now.

I would take either one of these guys in a heartbeat, Yelle especially, since he is a center.
