Totally off the armchair, since I haven't seen enough of either one to be sure:

Alexandrov.

I like the idea that he already seems to have an idea about his own zone, and that he has played against much higher competition.

I prefer Alexandrov, I have not see him play, but the report show some great qualities for a D-man in the New NHL....

I think that after one year in Hamilton he could become a great D-man for the Habs....

Visnevsky is all offense, I like that but after the Breezer period does Habs fans really want an all risk D-man I don't think so.....This guy is very useful for the PP

Never seen Alexandrov, saw Vishnevski play, liked what I saw from Vish but always thinking about how this will translate in the NHL. Alexandrov seems obviously more complete, still playing in Russia, no agreement problem anymore, well a tough decision to make. I would go with Alexandrov as well.

In an article on RDS.ca they said the habs may be interested in Mitera and Wishart and maybe even Nigel Williams

and In the article of Godin, the Habs like Summers.....

I think the Habs are wishing that someone slip.....if the logic is respected than the Habs will take a D-man.........

The bad news it's look like Timmins does'nt like Alexandrov (my personal choice) because the only names mentionned were Mitera, Wishart, Williams and Summers

From what ive heard of alexandrov... he is NOT what we need. Sounds like a small, bad defensive defenceman.

And then, when you think Summers is the ideal candidate and that the Habs will pick players along the lines of Williams, Wishart, Berglund, Summers....you find a crazy mock draft with a pretty bizarre choice for the Habs and some tough words for Summers.....

http://www.msnbc.com/modules/sports/.../mockdraft.asp

But what does MSNBC knows right???

It's maybe because he played with men in the super league......But it's true that I doen't have seen him, I like him only because of the report I receive from him.

If Alexandrov is small at 6'1 that's mean that Vishnevsky will not be selected.....

There a full 7-round mock draft for every team on the Mock draft board, just to verify with you, would you be happy with the picks the guy chose for us???

BOBBY SANGUINETTI
KEVIN MONTGOMERY
MICHAEL RATCHUK
CHRISTOPH GAWLIK
BENJAMIN BREAULT
MATT DIAS (who is he??)

So the BPA at work... and the french factor.....We're good....

Small and skilled, the Canadiens will salivate over the chance to select White, who will give them size, physicality and grit, even though offensive contributions might be minimal.

Since when a guy 5'11 will give size, physicality and grit........

I know the Habs are small but come on

lolllll
wth is this? a small forward with size and grit and minimal offensive production. who in their right mind would select that in the 1st round.

but he looks lost, maybe minimal offensive prodution finally means 40 goals and 85 points.

he probably is a football analyst who lost a bet and had to cover hockey for once.

I deleted my post. Olivier was never drafted which led me to believe he was eligible this year. But he's already 20, and signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2004.

If those were the only names mentioned, and praise was particularly heaped on Summers, then it is probably a better bet that Summers is not our man, and Alexandrov is.

The first 3 picks would at least give us defensemen... which would be good... but the specific 3 defensemen would disappoint me. Gawlik might be a pick that grows on me as the hype builds after the fact (a la Grabovsky) but heading in, I'm not particularly interested. Breault, definite no thanks here. Dias is probably the one I'm most personally familiar with, at least I've seen him a handful of times, but I was never actively watching him as a potential draft candidate. He might be kind of a decent D'Agostini type pick, he generally seems to hustle and produce a bit.

The reports that I read described him as weak and non-physical. That's a deal breaker for me. Maybe a 3rd rounder if he has all kinds of other qualities, but you still need your defencemen to be strong and play physical, especially if they're not the kind of clear-cut offensive talent that a Vishnevsky is.

You know what, you could be right on.....or not....

I see those guys or a surprised combination of

Berglund and Ahnelov or a safe combination of

Wishart/Williams (the one who's available) and Marcinko or Clutterbuck

I don't know, i've been naming at least 25 d-men, 50 forwards, 4 goalies, and even some coaches so it could be anybody and I'll have the feeling that I was right....
