I bet a lot of sticks would be deflected off the frame and stay away from the eyeball. The only way it could cause real injury is if the blade went through the small opening. It could work. Problem with the Goggles though, is that a puck flying at fool speed and hits you in the visor region will probably break your face in two. Visors are good protection against pucks also.
