As they skated around the Iroquois Park Arena, their scrawny bodies swimming in oversized sweaters and pads, they never imagined they would still be playing together at age 40, in the second year of twin $4.5 million contracts.
Two players from the same kiddie team winding up in the NHL is remarkable enough, but the story of Nieuwendyk and Roberts is even more astonishing because they have been teammates for 23 of the past 35 years. It would be virtually impossible to find two athletes in any sport who have played side by side that long.

The Sedin twins are the only other athletes that I can think of off the top of my head that might pass Nieuwendyk and Roberts, although that isn't really the same comparison.
That is quite a remarkable achievement for 2 athletes in any sport to play together for such a long time. Looked like both their careers were over years ago, would never have guessed they could still play competitive hockey this late into their careers, hats off to them.
