Jason Arnott (I think he could be our 2nd liner center)
Marc Savard (would love to get him but dnt think we could)
Michael Peca ( He steped up in the playoffs.. he could be the caracter player we need)
Jason Allison powerPlay specialist but thats it
Steve Rucchin good 2 way player but more a 3rd line Center
Mike Sillinger Underated player
Sergei Samsonov an explosive fwd to play with Kovy or Koivu
Brendan Shanahan THE Power Foward that we need
Eric Daze Never know he could stay healthy
Chris Simon Him and Begin would be awesome
Vaclav Varada Him Simon and Begin would be crazy
Jarkko Ruutu Good hitter
Georges Laraque hey he's a quebecker lol
Teemu Selanne Koivu buddy coming in MTL?
Petr Sykora Good fwd with speed
Anson Carter gritty fwd would love him
Petr Bondra old but still can score
Mike Grier this the black version of Begin! would give his heart and soul
Scott Mellanby good leader to have on the team
Zdeno Chara im dreaming ok!
Wade Redden see above
Ed Jovanovski him and souray on PP ouch!
Bryan McCabe I want him!
Pavel Kubina got offensively but is he a new version of Malakhov?
Kim Johnsson That would be a steal but often injured
Jay McKee hey why isn't he a goalie? He stops around 10 shots per game
Eric Desjardins good veteran
Dick Tarnstrom good for our PP
Jon Klemm (team option)
Our only immediate need is a big name scoring winger. Realistically I'd take Daze or Selanne.
This would give us something like:
On D I love guys like Mitchell, Skrastins and McKee but I think right now on our D the only one I'd get rid of is Souray. However if we trade Souray we need a d-man with a big shot and as far as I know those 3 don't have that strong of a shot.
I think they already said they wouldn't bring any big names in here, so I would forget about that. Elias would be nice tho.
I think we badly need an offensive defenseman, a big centerman who can make plays and play tough consistently and maybe a scorer (tho I like our young scoring depth now). But doesn't everyone? We also need some tougher bottom six guys, and a shutdown center would be nice too.
Jason Arnott - Yes, and would see him coming back to Gainey's team.
Marc Savard - This is Mike Ribeiro playing with Kovalchuk and Hossa. No upgrade whatsoever.
Michael Peca - Another overpayed defensive forward with little offense. We already have Bonk.
Jason Allison - Too ugly.
Steve Rucchin - We don't need a two-way player, we need a game-breaker. We already have Pleks, Bonk, Bégin...
Mike Sillinger - Once again, good, but not good enough for our needs. Still wouldn't mind him.
Sergei Samsonov - Small. But he would be real entertaining.
Brendan Shanahan - Will stay with the Wings.
Eric Daze - Maybe for $450,000.
Chris Simon - Lapierre, Murray, Ferland are all better and cheaper.
Vaclav Varada - See Simon, but even more useless.
Jarkko Ruutu - See Simon, but at least he's entertaining.
Georges Laraque - Why do we need a goon?! Just add grit, having one designated goon won't help!
Teemu Selanne- Would be great, but I don't see him leaving California.
Petr Sykora - No way. Soft soft soft.
Anson Carter - Would be great.
Petr Bondra - We have too much players that play the same style of game. Woudl rather give an opportunity to a younger player.
Mike Grier - See Simon.
Scott Mellanby - Will stay in Atlanta.
Zdeno Chara - Overrated, but I admit he would be great!
Wade Redden - Will stay in Ottawa.
Ed Jovanovski - Incredibly overrated. No way at his price-tag.
Bryan McCabe - Can't play D.
Pavel Kubina - A bit soft, but I wouldn't mind.
Kim Johnsson - Would be pretty good.
Jay McKee - Him I want, but he shouldn't make too much!
Willie Mitchell - Pass.
Eric Desjardins - Old, never was very good defensively.
Ruslan Salei - Would he really solve any of our problems? Nope.
Karlis Skrastins - See Salei.
Dick Tarnstrom - Can't play D.
Jaroslav Spacek - Nope.
Jon Klemm - Don't see how it would help us in any way.
McKee is the guy I want Gainey to focus on. IMO, he's the player that brings the most improvement to this team. He isn't flashy or offensive but watch him play against Ottawa and you'll see just how effective he is in his own zone.
thats 2 much fantasy...and y would u replace souray with spacek?, did u not see game 6 of edmonton/detroit, the game was making so many mistakes
Spacek is better than Souray at controling the puck and has better passing skills.
He's also better defensively (not much, but still...)
Finally, he could replace Souray on the PP, although Souray has a better shot.
I'm not saying it would be a huge improvement, but it would allow us to trade Souray for offensive help.
I think Souray is one of the rare players on our team to have decent trade value while being easily replaceable.
