i just read through all that and it's pretty shocking...even with a team well suited for the new NHL, that many injuries is going to really hinder you

i usually say "can't blame injuries for playoff losses" but that is absolutely ridiculous...i think we all need to lighten up a bit on the lack of heart stuff as well as the hitchcock firing crap

I'm getting really pissed off at all the lack of timetable for Primeau. He just held his team and his fans in suspense, all the while he probably knew in the back of his mind that he wouldn't be returning.

they had a press conference saying he wouldn't be coming back... and he never said he was explicitly coming back for the playoffs... i don't blame him in the slightest for trying to get back and play. you want to blame anyone, blame the staff all the way to the top.

Im worried about a rift between the Flyers & Niitty. Finland doc says he does not need surgery, Philly wanted him to come home early. We will see how this all plays out, but 14 surgeries is bad!

If anything, it was the other way around, that he knew he wouldn't be able to return but in the back of his mind he felt he was only a couple of days away.

They should issue a fourth jersey made of bubble wrap.

How about an actual bubble for Primeau's head and Forsberg's legs.

im sure this has been covered before but that article said:

"Forsberg has loose ligaments in his ankles that were more uncomfortable than painful. The condition affected his balance, put added stress on his legs and made it difficult to keep his right foot in his skate."

doesnt that seem like it would cause his constant groin problems?

I agree -- we knew through the season that there were a boatload of injuries, but this many surgeries after the season is unreal.

Yeah I'm having trouble thinking players who don't need surgery. Four of them are in the world championships - Richards, Carter, Umberger and Meyer. Who else? Bundy and Johnsson don't need surgery but they still have concussions so that almost counts. Nedved? Does he need groin surgery? Oh yeah, Knuble. The only durable one on the entire team.

I just think this whole surgery thing is hilarious!

Umberger

This from Paul holmgren:
R.J. Umberger made it over in time for the first game, but couldn’t play in that game because his equipment got lost in transit. He ended up playing in the second game against Denmark and played okay, and then the next day he reported that he didn’t feel very good. He just didn’t feel right, so we’re holding him out and he actually wasn’t any better [Wednesday] at practice. We’ll see how he is tomorrow, but there’s a good chance of him not playing out the rest of the tournament. It’s unrealistic because of the symptoms he has for him to come back and help us. We’ll make that decision [Thursday] or [Friday].
