That is a good question. My best guess is because he just got sent down and the game plan for the Wolves was already set. I'm sure Wolfkeeper will have better insight.

The report that I got is that he hasn't reported to Chicago yet.

Only he knows if he actually *will* report.

Are you forgetting our Euros' tendencies on reporting to the AHL? Kallio, Butsayev, Hnilicka, etc. Bartecko recently declined a two-way deal with th Kings and went back home.

I wouldn't be so sure Piros will show up.

Is it just me or do the Thrashers have a bigger problem with this than other organizations?

This is very common. Look at what Gaborik did to the Wild...threatening to play in Slovakia. With so many European leagues those players talk about going "back home" a lot. Marcus Naslund and Peter Foresberg both talk about it and they are in the prime of their careers.

But all those players are still in N. America. They used it as a threat, but didn't act on it. Thrasher players seem to have a higher tendency to act on it. Big difference.

Both types of players are doing the same thing.....trying to get the best contract. Thrashers players of years gone-by have acted on it because they weren't offered the type of contract they were hoping for. In other words they were NHL 25th man type so when the other teams only offered two-way contracts they bolted. The only reason we had more of those types speaks to the talent level of the players the Thrashers employed and not a hard-charging negotiating style. In other words nobody wanted them so they went back home.

No, our guys are bolting in the middle of their contracts. Big difference between not agreeing to a two-way deal and agreeing to one then flying the coop when the chips are down. That's what Kallio, Butsayev (though to his credit his contract did have an out clause,) and Hnilicka did (he refused to report to the Wolves last postseason, IIRC.)

Could Piros be the next in a line of Not-As-Good-As-They-Think Euros?

I respect Butsayev though because the year before the last month or two of the season he was in a Wolves jersey one night, Thrashers the next, seems as if he played one place every night. I respect him for doing it when he was in Chicago the night after the Thrashers played.

Slight difference with Butsayev (whose contract, as you mentioned, had an out-clause), and with Hnilicka, who was given an option. (He considered it, then said no, because he "had nothing else to prove"... at least from what I was told.) Kallio and Piros (thus far, anyway) just refused to show up, with nothing to back it up.

Makes them real popular with the Wolves fans, let me tell ya...
