Of the players listed in the original question, none of them should be in except LaFontaine, IMO. Barber & Sittler were not even point-per-game players! Lapointe was a very good defenseman, but the HOF is NOT for "very good" players, it is for exceptional players who dominated the sport for a long period of time. Same reason Cam Neely should never have gotten in. He was dominant for about 2 seasons, then he was injuried and was never really the same again. He finished far below a PPG, also. Didn't even score 400 goals, let alone the 500 needed to get the attention of the voters these days. And Dino can't get in with over 600! Not to compare Dino to Cam, but numbers DO play a part in the process.
many others are not deseving of this award, either. But because of the extremely LOW standards right now, still more average players will get in, I guess.
