So who stays and whos let go

Well its apprent that some players did not show up at all in this series and a shakeup of the roster is necessary. So who would you like to see the Sens keep and who should they move.

Players I feel should be moved or let go

Chara: He showed this series he is not an elite defeneman. I say let him walk and put the money somewhere else.

Alfredsson: He has been giving his shot to lead this team to a cup and has not deliverd. One of my favourit players but I feel a new direction is needed with this team.

Heatley: I thought he would be a playoff warrior and I was wrong. Perhaps we could keep him for one more year but if a good offer came up for him Id move him.

Muckler: He should be fired. He has not deliverd time to go in a new direction. Failed to land a second line center at the trade deadline.

Its not like the Sens need a massive shakeup but a new leader is needed and a Mckee like defenseman to replace Chara.

Chara, Alfredsson, Muckler, Hasek (probably won't even play next season) and whatever.

Muckler definitely goes. The only good move he made for this team has been Schaefer, the rest was mostly done by Johnston before he left and the scouting staff. The Heatley trade only happened because both teams were in a hole.

Chara: Don't resign
Smoke: Just because. (nothing to do with playoffs. he steped up)
Alfie: Only if we can get somthing good for him. I won't be disapointed if he is back, he is a great player but I think his time to get the old playoff scapegoat beat stick is coming soon.

Muckler stays, no two bones about it.

To be honest, pretty much anyone could be moved and I simply wouldn't care. I'm fed up of the same bloody thing.

Chara is the obvious one though. From there, I don't know, and I don't care. I don't care about most of them.

Let go of Varada, Smolinski, Chara.

Sign Redden.

Trade for a franchise goaltender?

Get some good veterans who work their *** off and step up when it matters?

Im sorry but this team already played inexperienced and you want to get rid of all the leadership.

Muckler, Chara, Varada, Arnason are gonners let them walk via contracts.

Move murray up to gm hire Crawford as head coach.

Make a trade for an elite goaltender, no one is safe outside of Schaefer and Fisher.

Use the Chara money to sign one of these free agent defensmen.

crawford would be a very good coach for this team, if they got some goaltending.

Chara - let someone else overpay for him.

Alfredsson - I wouldn't mind seeing him moved.

Heatley - Not going anywhere despite awful playoffs.

Havlat - Could be trade bait for goalie.

Redden - Re-sign ASAP.

Muckler - Fire him.

When you have had as much expectations as Ottawa has had the past few years, yet time and time again we fail, this series was not Alfies fault. But once again, he played less than what was expected out of him and was a total goat on that last goal. He has been a loyal Sen for a long long time, but somtimes you have to bite the bullet.

Alfie certainly didn't look like he was playing his heart out on that clinching goal. To be honest (and correct me if you think I am reading too much into this), he didn't look at be all that pumped/excited/confident/leaderlike after the goal he scored tonight either. His celebration almost looked like he was joking.

This is coming from a Rangers fan who absolutely loves the Senators by the way. I was rooting for you guys the whole way, so this is in no way Sens bashing post.

I think Chara may have cost himself some dough with this playoff performance.

Take a day or two to cool down. You probably don't mean that. I know how frustrated we are but there are lots of positives on this team that we can look forward to for next season. Definitely some core change will need to be made as this was indeed below our expectations for this team.

The only thing I want to see in the offseason is the aquisition of a true #1 goalie. I don't care who we have to give up.

Is there any way that we can trade the whole Sens line-up for Buffalo's....straight up?

Seriously though. I think we saw with the Sabres, what players have to do to win deep into the playoffs.

How many Ottawa shots were blocked? How many times did you see 2, 3, or 4 Sabres all in the shooting lane and the Camera would pick the Sens player backing out of the area in front of the Net to move to the side of the net hoping for a rebound that never occured because the shot didn't make it through?

So, I say....and bare in mind I'm venting...and half out of my mind with disappointment and anger, and I might change my mind on much of this in the coming days....except for Chara. On his future here, my mind is made up.

Chara - gone. Only resign him if it means that we can trade him for something of value. If he demands a no-trade contract for example....well, cya later big Z.

Hasek. Thanks for the memories. It was a great idea to get a great goalie. Let's get one that isn't damaged goods and a head case next time.

Reddon. Keep him. He proved to me that he is the better D-man in the Chara versus Reddon 'who do you keep' debate.

Alfie. I'm fine with keeping him.

Muckler. One never knows for sure what constraints a GM is working under, but he rolled the dice on Hasek, and lost the gamble. If he's gone, I won't lose sleep.

Murray. Seems to me that he was out-coached in this series.

In the end though...as another poster put it, there's no untouchables on this team.

Alfredsson has had opptunities to deliver and has not. I want to see a new captain for this team. Heatley will only be moved is a good offer came along.

I am not to pissed off about the loss because the sens are the second youngust team in the league.

You guys have so much talent. 5 one-goal games that could have gone either way. Some hopefully unbiased/ thoughts:

Chara was a workhorse, but so was Zhitnik for us the past few years. If I'm spending the NHL max, it's on Redden. He's great.

Alfie is a bargain at 4+ million, but Spezza is going to be the true heart of that team.

Emery may become more, but with all the talent you have, Mucks needed to solidify goaltending. Roloson would have been worth the pick. We all know the enigma that is Dom at age 41 couldn't be counted on.

Good luck in the future.
