The American Hockey League announced today that Rochester Americans center Derek Roy has been named the AHL Rookie of the Month for October. In six games, Roy scored four goals and added six assists for 10 points as the Amerks raced out to a strong start in the AHL's North Division.
Just wanted to say that I was at the Rochester game on the 31st, and Roy was the best player. (although I thought Mike Ryan played well) Roy has some good moves and he makes things happen on the ice, which is fun to see. But damn is he small. No way is he 5'9. I sat about a few inches behind him (I was in the first row and he was sitting right in front of me) I'm not saying he's not any good cause the skill is there thats for sure.
I also watched the Amerks play Saturday against the roadrunners, and wow Miller was great (outside one bad move which cost him a goal, it was a poke check that the timeing was off) But he was very impressive in the game.
