This is a tough one. This is the first year my non-Flyer favorite from the East met my favorite from the west. Hard to say which team I'd rather have. On the one hand, I love the Edmonton fans and wouldnt mind the cup back in Canada finally. On the other hand, if it did return to Canada for a year, it wouldnt quiet down the Canadians for five minutes, and would just make them more arrogant than ever before. I love the way Edmonton plays: hard working, great goaltending, highlight reel goals, and big hits. They are the prototypical come from behind underdogs that ride on emotion and are great to cheer for. However, Carolina also plays a nice brand of hockey with hard work, great goaltending, highlight reel goals, and big hits. Plus they have three former Flyers I really want to see succeed. I hate the thought of the SE winning two cups in a row, but I have no dislike for Carolina or their fans specifically, making them only competitive team in the East (besides the Flyers) that I can say that about.
Just curious. I saw a lot of people who changed their sigs to Edmonton. Good win tonight.
Personally in the west, I've been cheering for Edmonton since they beat up on Detroit, and I'm still cheering for them in the conference finals. As for the East, Carolina, no doubt. Not that I'm bitter against buffalo or anything, they're an amazing team, just Eric Staal is amazing, and as much as I like having Primeau, I still miss Brindamour.
Absolutely Brind'Amour and the 'Canes. It would be so fitting to have Brindy's name on the cup as Captain-a role we should have given him years ago.
