IMO, the panthers deal from oilflip is the best thus far.

From Ottawa:

Havlat and Emery...Havlat will be a big-time point producer and Emery is likely to be a #1 someday. Any more than that and it wouldn't be worth doing from Ottawa's standpoint.

I have a better idea for the Canucks.

Let's wait 3 years or however long it is until Fleury's first contract is up, then when the Pens can't afford to sign him, we offer a package full of devastating players of similar level to Mikael Samuellson and whichever palyer we tried to dump on waiver sthe week before.

I'm thinking in 3 years we can get Fleury for Lindgren, Keane, Kavanaugh, and a 2nd round pick.

You just need patience...it's only a (short) matter of time until the Pens can't afford him anymore.

wow, thats a rather stupid post.

1) in case you arent aware, the cba is up after this year, and chances are a lot of things will be fixed.

2) they signed him knowing full wel the will most likely owe him 4M by the end of the year. plus, in those few eyars, Straka could be gone freeing up 4.5M which could go to fleury.

3) we could just let him sit and not sign him, and then you can sign him away and give us your next 5 1st round picks.

either way, you're post is unintellegent and wrong. not to mention i recall a certain canadian team that only a few years ago was in much the same position and ended up turning it around, making profit and being a contendor.

Of course it was a stupid post.

It's not as if Pittsburgh doesn't have a history of trading away, or not signing, highly paid players because they're unable to afford them.

Jaromir Jagr
Alexei Kovalev
Robert Lang (unable to sign him because of cost)
Martin Straka (not gone yet, but he's on his way)

Arguments could also be made for Zubov and Nedved.

I'm sorry, it's not a stupid post at all. It's a mean post, perhaps, but I don't know how you can be a Penguins fan and not realize the horrendous plight the franchise is in, and the ramifications they have on the personel the team is able to keep.

Along to the same lines, Straka and Lemieux will BOTH be gone by the time his contract his up, but hell, this may be a moot point, because the Penguins could be gone from Pittsburgh too.

yeah, i'll gow ith that.

trust me, as a Pens fan i know all bout it. but the organization hasnt been this high on anyone since Mario, so i dont think they will let him go. i see more salary dumping of a forward or d-man before Fleury gets traded. the kid is jsut too good to give up.

That's not to bad.

That deal that was posted with the Isles sending Nillson, Dipietro, and Parrish is a bad over-payment. Dipietro is one of what I consider the big three in goaltending kids (Lehtonen, Dipietro, Fluery) So to give up a kid who has can/should be a top line sniper some day and Parrish who is a top line winger already is a bad over-payment.

burp ... too funny.

whatever is *fixed* in the new CBA wont help the bottom teams in the financial picture. but hey, if you want to live in the naivety of the Pens fans who insisted that Kovalev would get them a huge return, be my guest.

the CBA wont be fixed, partly because there is nothing wrong with it. Im not saying there wont be *changes* in the owners favour, but -- hang on -- ok, stopped laughing -- if you think there will be some magical salary cap of 31m (or so), then I have some grass on the moon to sell ya.

1) it wont be worse than it is now, so the Pens will be in a better situation, especially if they get a new arena. and no, i'm not thinking a 31M cap. if there is a cap, i'm thinking 42M w/ a slight increase every year.

2) no one knew how bad the situation was UNTIL kovalev was tarded. this his been gone over so many times, stop being ignorant toward the situation.
