Replacing Jan Bulis

Would Ruslan Fedotenko do as a fill in for Bulis as a 2 way LW?

on a related topic...

I would say that we try to replace impact players...

For player of the caliber of Bulis, we don't talk about replacement... but more like... a position is now open for another player....

We can fill that position with an offensive player... or a a defensive one.

All in all, I would think we would get an upgrade over Bulis.

I'm not in favour of trading Aebischer, unless it gets us something that we can't get on the UFA market. I would be willing to trade Aebischer to get Lang, if it came to that, because I don't see a centre like Lang being available in this year's FA market.

But I don't really know how different Fedotenko is from Bulis, and I think that's one type of asset that is readily available on the UFA market. I'd rather keep Aebischer, either as insurance on Huet, or for a better trade, and just pick up a Fedotenko-like (or grittier, ie. Langenbrunner) UFA winger. For that matter, the Bolts might elect to not qualify Fedotenko to get their cap situation in order, and he might become a UFA himself. Or if that doesn't happen, they may be under the hammer to trade him away dirt cheap at the draft, cheaper than for Aebischer.

I funny how this thread look like we are trying to replace Bobby Orr or Jean Beliveau...
It's Jan Bulis for christ sake! 20 goal per year should not be a puzzle to replace and I am pretty sure Higgins will score more goal then that next year, Perez will probably ends up with more then is 9 goals of this year, Kots is on the verge of coming in, Zednik (if we keep him) should be back in the 20-25 goals range and Pleks should be in the same range.
I want Gainey to spend time trying to find us a 50 goals per year player, not another 20-goals-per-year-good-second-or-third-line-player-who-is-a-good-two-way-player-at -one-millions-per-year.

I guess this would be a good time to replace a player by one with caracter. Im thinking a guy like Grant Marshall or Avery ( yes Avery).
Marshall is a all around player (3 or 4 liner) with grit. Avery, pretty good 4rth liner that can boost up the team. He s a jerk, but remindes me of Barnaby, just what we need. Also get Laraque...lol

Errr. I don't think Fedotenko would be an ideal solution on the 2nd line.

I mean, he always makes me think of Ryder. I think we need someone other than a Ryder type player on the 2nd. Either faster and more polyvalent (Perezhogin? Kostitsyn? Langenbrunner?) or a bit more physical along the boards (Latendresse in a few years? Anson Carter? ).

Either way, I'm not that high on him. Might be just me though.

Play the kids. Fedotenko would be nice if we were a contending team needing depth. We are still bullding our team and I feel that we must give our youngter all the chance to succeed just like Gainey did with Higgins and Komisarek last year(pairing them with the best player they could play with, Koivu and Markov respectively). Kostystyn and Perezoghin must be given the chance to play on an offensive unit. Plus we have Chipchura and Latendresse who could both make the team next season so ne need for Fedotenko.

Fedotenko is way better the Bulis, has much more of a scoring touch. This is unlikely to happen though Im sure we could find a more suitable replacement for him like kostystin. we should concentrate on replacing our tiny second line center.

Fedotenko is the the fastest guy out there but with such a body, he'd be a good fit if Ribeiro has to stay. He'd be somewhat of a physical presence and it would help a guy like Ribeiro in the offensive zone tremendously.

Calling him a better Dagenais IS pushing it a lot imo.
