Difference between 2002 playoff team and now?

Is this team better than the 2002 playoff team? Did a porous Boston defense and a young/old Carolina team just make us look better than we were?

How is the linup different? Is the East just better now?

Theo overachieved. Saku's cancer and absence motivated them into not giving up and working hard. They just overachieved as a whole.

The current edition is more talented but has absolutely no hollow muscular organ located behind the sternum that pumps blood through the body.

In fact I'm beginning to think this 01-02 season was the worst thing that could ever happen to this team. It made us overpay for Theo and Brisebois. It raised the expectations thus the deceptions for the following year. I guess it all depends if you think kicking the Bruins collective ass has no price.

Take that JOHNNY V ! :moon: :p

Good point.....Breezer's 4 mil per season contract was brutal..Theo's 5 mil per season contract was more reasonable since he did win the hart and vezina...but you make an interesting point. No idea why Savard gave Breezer all that money just because he was going to be an ufa after his final year in the previous contract.

As for the Bruins and JOHNNY V...take this :moon: :moon: :moon:

Gilmour was a big factor, Petrov to a lesser extent, Zednik was playing at his peak intensity (which he hasn't played at consistantly since), Audette was a plus on the ice, Saku was playing (hasn't played this year), and Theodore gave opposing teams anxiety attacks.

Outside of that they are exactly the same.
