Devils in pursuit of Berezin

The New Jersey Devils are reportedly the leading candidates to sign unrestricted free agent Sergei Berezin.

Sources tell the New York Post that while the New York Rangers and a half dozen other teams have also expressed interest in the 32 year old forward, the Devils appear to have the upper hand.





If Sather signs Berezin, Ill be very pissed. We dont need another player who has no defense and does not even pass. Berezin is a complete waste.

I agree with that first sentence, but not the second.. I friggin' love his wheels, but yes, I don't think he'd help in this "defense first" philosophy.. Don't see how he'd fit the Devils either for that matter..

that Sather is looking at him, just as he's looked at every other available player ever. And if he signs Berezin, I'd guess that Hlavac would be gone.

I admit that if Rangers sign Berezin and Hlavac is gone, Im for it, but if that means Moore is in Hartford, then Im not, and wont someone have to go on waivers if we sign Berezin and once all players are healthy?

I'd say there's nothing to this rumor. Berezin is a reclamation project even Sather won't touch.............hopefully.

Well you gotta remember he did touch Tibbetts and Karpa.

I dunno, i heard rumblings about this back in training camp and the play of Rucinsky and Hlvac hasnt helped.
