I'm sorry but that's nuts. Couchraine at best might be a serviceable depth forward but not a 2nd liner. He's small (175 lbs, he's listed at)...And while he did put up points, it isn't that hard in the ECHL.
I believe he's already a free agent as far as the NHL is concerned. We didn't sign him after the three year. Or am I off a year?

After Courchaine's 2 year window of elibility to the Wild ended, the Wild chose not to sign him to the standard 3 year entry level contract. However, they did sign him to a 1 year ATO with Houston of the AHL for the 2005-2006 season.
His ATO contract has since ended, so yes I would assume that he is now a UFA.
Courchaine's stats from the ECHL are impressive, and could warrant a look for a 3 year entry level deal.
