Is he likely to be sent back on loan to the Petes for another year or will he be playing for the Phantoms next year?

The good news is he might make the Flyers more enjoyable to watch.

The bad news is I have to do his ratings for EHM 2006 having seen him play once.

I would have thought the Phantoms otherwise there wouldn't be any point in signing him if he wasn't going to play in Philly.

speaking of EHM, for young players, can you make them so that young prospects actually develop and play major roles on various teams?

As for Downie, this just leave the option open for the Flyers to let him hang around the team for a while after training camp, play a few games and make a decision later.

EHM: Yeah, the prospect development is being looked at.

Yes. Next season, 2006-07, he is only eligible to play for the Flyers or the Petes. 2007-08, he can play wherever the Flyers assign him. And in 2008-09, his junior eligibility will exist no more.

If he does make the Flyers, I'm already thinking about the damage he and Eager can do on the 4th line.

I've never seen him play, so I'm only working out from what I've heard. Does he have potential to be more than an energy/checking line forward? I guess I'll ask that same question for Eager.

yes.

as for eager, he's not gonna be much more than what he is/was last season but that isn't really a bad thing.

He cant play for the Phantoms. He is an 87 bday...he has 2 options...NHL or back to the OHL.

They probably signed him just for the sake of getting it out of the way.

Thats exactly what will happen. I found minor league players and non 1st round prospect never developed and that pissed me off because they basically had put a ceiling in that players cant progress past.

For instance, Meyer would have never been a regular NHL player in last years game.

I've done a lot more random ceilings on players that aren't known, like Ruzicka could be nothing or he could end up a 2nd liner if you're lucky. Hopefully it will make the game more interesting and no 2 games will ever be the same.

Hopefully it will be less rigid, ie 1st rounders are surefire NHLers and 3rd rounders or later never progess to 1st line status.

No, he didn't.

I think he'll play the first 9 games of the season and then be sent back to junior so the first year of his contract doesn't kick in.

I'd be really surprised if he is - mostly because of his skating. He's not a bad skater, but far from good.

Heres a question, how many games does he have to play for the Flyers for it to count as one for UFA service?
