Death of Ukey....36 years later...

Today, 36 years ago, Ukey, Terry Sawchuk, passed on the fatal day on May 31.

RIP Ukey...u were the greatest.....

he died in hospital of complications after falling into a fire pit during a fight with a teammate over who owed exactly what in some bills from the season.

I've heard Emile Francis tell the story. It was Ron Stewart who he fought. Its a shame. Sawchuk was a great goalie, my pick as the best ever, yet he seemed to have led an unhappy life. Not sure if it was depresssion or bad nerves or anxiety. Gordie Howe said that for a man who seemingly had everything he was a very sad individual. And Gordie should know he played for him for 12 years.
