Seeing how Moncton won the league championship and went to the Mem Cup Finals, as well as more and more Maritime players being impact players in the Q (Crosby for one), is it time for the league to change its' name to represent not only Quebec but the Maritimes as well?
Something like ...
QMMJHL - Quebec-Maritimes Major Junior Hockey League
LHJMQM - Ligue de Hockey Junior Majeur de Quebec-Maritimes
From a marketing standpoint it would seem to make sense, but I dont know if the Provincial types in Quebec would approve of this. The controversy would be nauseating.
Has this ever been brought up to Gilles Courteau? Anyone know?
First of all maybe an honest question but this is the Habs section. There's QMJHL section. But I'm not a mod.
Second, the Q is what the league is known as the Q is what it should stay.
Third with the inclusion of St. John's it's not Maritime it's Atlantic. The Maritime Provinces are only NB, NS, and PEI. To include the province of Newfoundland and Labrador it's Atlantic Provinces. Then there's Lewiston who are in Maine, US of A.
Without calling the divisions such there is now an Atlantic and a Québec division where the teams only have interlocking play twice in the season.
So marketing has been dealt with.
Now, what Q players will the Habs draft this year, anybody know?
