Mark Tobin, Bryan Bickell

Two decent prospects that went unsigned over June 1st.

I know that Edge liked Tobin a lot and I think Melnyk did as well? He's a good, solid player who I'd definately take a look at signing.

Same with Bickell.

I remember liking Bickell, haven't heard much about Tobin. Anyone know what type of player he is?

Tobin is definately a power forward, but I have NO idea if his game can translate to the NHL.

He's been pretty consistent, although somewhat unspectacular, throughout his career in the QMJHL.

Are they free agents or will they reenter the draft?

I liked Tobin alot in his draft year. Saw a few games live . He played with Crosby and stuck up for him really well while showing some offensive instincts. Would take a chance on him. Never liked Bickell, always overrated imo.

Brickell I always thought had the talent but never put it together and was always a bit oversold.

Tobin is a case where I like the kid but like Jon I REALLY don't know if his game translates to the NHL.

If he does he's not going to be a huge scorer but maybe he turns into a Kris King type.

That I don't see.

Take out the injuries Simon is a pretty decent player, especially in his younger years. He was one of the top fighters in the league and could chip in some points and take a regular shift.

Tobin just isn't that kind of player, not really knock on him but Simon was just a much rarer breed.

Tobin isn't nearly as physical or as good a figher as Simon is, either. They're pretty much two different players completely.

Brickell was signed by the Blackhawks. They just did not announce their June 1 signings until yesterday.

So basically Tobin would be a 3rd or 4th line guy?... From what I have seen we are set for decent 3rd and 4th line guys, i want a franchise player next or at least some solid 2nd line guys.
