Troy Brouwer signing?

Any chance the Hawks are planning to sign Troy Brouwer?

Leading scorer in the WHL and still going strong with Moose Jaw towards the Memorial Cup.

Yeah, though doesn't he have a couple years on the other players? don't get me wrong I hope he comes to the NHL and dominates.

That is one concern. His breakout year was as a 20 year old. But he hung around Hawks camp last fall until near the end. They like him...it is a possibility.

I don't think that there is any doubt that they'll sign him.

He should be one of many prospects in Norfolk next year.

Even though he was an over-ager who overachieved, it never hurts to have a late round pick like him turning out better than expected. I'm sure they'll sign him.

Brouwer will absolutely be signed.

Look nobody thinks this kid will score at the NHL level- not on any basis like he is in the dub.

But the hawks were high on Brouwer during the previous 2 prospect camps. Why? He's big, he is a good skater for his size, he is willing to drop the gloves (has 3x in camp; 2x pounding Fraser as I recall), and is willing to play a grind em out checking game.

That he has shown the ability to put the puck in the net is a bonus.

Moose Jaw's out of the playoffs, after losing to the Vancouver Giants 4-0.

Sign Brouwer.

June 1st is coming quickly....

We'll find out later today, when the names of the players who were signed yesterday are finally released.

I expect confirmation of Nordquist's signing, and the signings of Bickell and Brouwer.

Anything more than that is a "bonus".
