even though I think he is very overrated by some here, I choose Lecavalier.

Savard is too small and wouldn't bring another dimension to the habs.
Arnott had a big year this year but hasn't shown that scoring throughtout his career.
Lang is very good but he's 35 years old, you want a player who's going to improve your team right away and make you move forward as you put the pieces around him (Kostitsyn,Perezhogin..etc.) Acquiring Lang should be if your missing 1 player to make you a contender.

Lecavalier bring the size dimension, 6'4 207 lbs, willing to stand in front of the net which we have been lacking, willing to fight for his team(Chara,Iginla), stanley cup winner and he's french(which I don't care) but it will get some of the media off of Gainey's back.

I don't understand why Lecavalier's name would be in this poll and others like Thornton, Spezza, Staal, Richards, Forsberg, etc aren't?

Anyway, of the realistic candidates for acquisition, Savard, Arnott, and Lang, I'm going with Lang.

Oh great, we all know where this poll is going.

Can I vote none.

Arnott - too expensive, this was a contract year, he won't give you the same production again.
Lecavalier - Not available, even if he was available, he would only be available to a western conference team
Savard - too expensive, suffers from Brendan Morrison syndrome, ie inflated pts due to linemates
Lang - most intriguing, but what would he cost in terms of trade value??

Lecavalier has the most upside but would also cost the most to acquire and pay. In the end he would be the best choice of those but the least likely to come here.

Why those four only, you're asking ?

Two are UFA's (Arnott and Savard)

Two other are part of nymerous rumours sending them to Montreal.

I would take one of Thornton, Staal, Spezza, Richards, Forsberg or Crosby anytime before those four... But they are not available !

rumors say otherwise and we don't know what's the truth...rumor is just that..a rumor and that's the why habitue put him in this thread.

I think Lecavalier is available for the right price, I don't think he's being shopped but if the habs came with the right offer then he might get dealt... just my opinion

I just think if a Vinny is gonna get moved via trade it will not be to a team in the same conference.

It's almost certain that Lecavalier will be moved soon, the rumours that Montreal is making a pitch are true, but 20 other teams are making an offer as well.

Ryder will probably eclipse that in 06/07, but seeing as he's not a centre, I'd rather have Arnott as the 2nd line centre.

Sillinger is 35 and just had his carreer year. Before, he never scored more than 20 goals and never had more than 44 points.

The guy played for half a dozen teams over his carreer. He was not good enough for Ottawa. And he is 35. Read my previous post.

No I actually agree with you man. I had to put two habs together just to make 32 goals. Just trying to lighten the mood.
