Would Atlanta ever trade him?

Thats the kind of offensive player we need. Than again, most teams would like that.

What if we traded Lecavalier for him? Lecavalier and Luongo for Kovalchuk and Lehtonen?

Kovalchuk is one of the top skilled offensive guy in the league, no way he gets traded imo.

Well nobody knows what could happen it the next few years, but right now, I don't see anyway that Altanta trades Kovalchuk unless they are getting Ovechkin or Crosby in trade.

But, then again Boston traded Thornton without receiving a top 10 player in retrun, so.......

Atlanta has two players making over 6 million, another making just under 4.3 million. Another two making just under 3 million and another making just over 2 million. They have countless others making just under 2 million and several under 1 million.

Will they be able to stay under the cap if they want to sign some of their RFA's? They didn't make the playoffs, even though I realize they were close. Tampa is another team with several players making up a good chunk of the pay roll on a couple of players.

Ever? Nobody is forever untouchable, I guess. But, right now and for the next forseeable future, he's a franchise player any team would LOVE to have. If I am Atlanta, I wouldn't trade him now.

...and he's only making 6.375 until '09-10. That seems low considering those that are signing now...Vinny, Richards etc.
