2001 draft review

with the 5 year rule in affect

started out good--but went down hill and if Ruutu can not stay healthy it gets uglier

By "started out good", you mean "we totally ****ed up except for Ruutu", right?

I rememeber following that draft and after every pick I was like, ***!!!!
Especially the Munro pick. I remember discussing it on Hawkfan message boards and almost all Hawk fans were steamed and confused at what the Hawks were doing.

We desperately needed a goalie and I was ecstatic when Blackburn fell to us. I couldnt believe it when they passed on him and took Ruutu. In hindsight, the Ruutu pick looks good now, but I was right on the remainder of them it is looking.

You were wrong about Munro regarding the 2003-04 season. He was gone to Norfolk by November of that season, rather than playing in Gwinnett until February. He was with Norfolk until Chicago signed him and brought him up in February.

I agree, after Ruutu everything was a total disaster. We drafted Munro and look what he has done for us since then? Win 3 games last year... Even after him none of those guys have even played in the NHL have they? And if they did it was not for too long.
