Canucks/Umberger stalemate near end?

A footnote in The Vancouver Sun this morning read as follows:

Quote:
UMBERGER WITHOUT RELISH
The acrimonious contract negotiations with 2001 first-round draft pick R.J. Umberger appear to be nearing completion. The Canucks are close to finalizing a deal - on their terms - for the Ohio State forward, who would report to the minor-league Mantoba Moose.
That would be excellent news, especially for the Moose who are off to a terrible start and can't seem to put a puck in the net with any regularity anymore. Having a potential power forward on the team down there would really be a benefit for them.

I would be ecstatic. Umberger has got to play and he may be able to help poor moose team.

A very underrated prospect around here (as a lot of college guys are) this guy is big, skilled, and slick. He will turn some heads at the pro level.

Hope he is signed soon.

Could do. Depends on how he's doing around the trade deadline.

With Umberger there are two groups of people

The people that think that he will be a top line player in the league

and the guys like me who think that he will be a career minor leaguer

It would be nice to see him in a pro game to see if he got game or is just game
