Cujo

I'm not good at trade values so even this up for me.

To Buffalo: Cujo and cash
To Detroit: Afinogenov, Biron, picks/prospects

Its a whole lot one sided towards Detroit.
Buffalo wouldnt want Cujo anyway, never mind giving up young talent and picks.

I think Cujo will only be dealt for a Turgeon or LeClair type player. Detroit wont get anything valuable for Cujo.

So Cujo and, lets say, 4 mill for Afinogenov and Biron would be fair?

Buffalo takes that one up the butt. Besides overpaying extremely, they give up a good young goalie and a good young forward, for an old, overpaid goaltender, who they could have had for free off waivers. The Sabres dont need a goalie. They have 3 of them already.

Another thing, Detroit is trying to move a goalie, not pick one up.

for a team like buffalo to take cujo, detroit would need to make a deal where they'll take him back at year end when hasek quits again.......

nope, joseph for a peanut is fair.. honestly..

cujo for a conditional sixth round pick or something is fair at this point, probably less.. that or cujo for another huge contract like leclair *won't happen b/c philly doesn't need joseph* or turgeon *dallas doesn't need joseph* or jagr *washington doesn't need joseph* or lindros *new york doesn't need cujo* ..

hmm..

Anyone who thinks Biron has any value whatsoever obviously doesn't watch the Sabres.

I would think the Sabres would be best kicking him to the street and going with Miller on a regular basis.

Afinogenov is never going to reach his potential as a Sabre. He needs a change of scenery. At this point I couldn't care a less about Biron. He shows flashes then lets in 6 goals in 20 minutes to Atlanta, blowing a 2 goal lead in the process. I already told you I'm no good at value and I know Detroit wouldn't need a goalie but its the only way it makes financial sense for the Sabres. I don't think this trade would ever happen, I just wanted to know value. If its so far off, what would be good value?

Cujo + $7M per year to Buffalo for future considerations (which turn out to be nothing) is a fair deal.

The most the wings would be able to pick up is 4m a year.

this trade makes no sense either way. What would Detroit do with Biron?
Sit him on the bench behind Hasek? or in the press box behind Hasek and Legacy? Detroit is trying to move a goalie, not get a different one.

Buffalo doesn't need or want an expensive veteran goalie either. they are stacked with young goalies. Next?

To a point i agree with you. But if Holland can move Cujo and has to take back a young, cheap goalie i'm sure he would. And in the long run, it wouldn't hurt to get Biron. Hasek will more than likely retire again. That would leave Detroit with Legace and Biron. Giving guys like Liv, MacIntyre and Howard more time to develop.

As for the trade proposal, Buffalo loses big time.
Detroit is gonna have to include as much cash as the NHL will allow them. I think thats 4 million, plus a good prospect to get any kind of return.
