How about Marc Savard?

The guy has some holes in his game and is disliked by many but he is a number one center at his peak who seems to have adapted very well to the new NHL. Too risky a signing after only the one big year? On the upside that might make him a bit more affordable than if he has a bunch of big seasons in a row.

Oops never mind. I see this topic has been beaten up here quite recently. An unpopular little man

He might be a better fit for us than arnot. With savard we can still trade ribs.

Koivu savard pleks bonk is pretty potent.

its small but look at both cup finalists not many large center's mostly average size, they just all play tough.

I'm not sure about savard

but koivu pleks play tough and Bonk is the Big center on the 4th line

U just wanted to use that Cheerleader.LOL

so you are saying that our centers this season(koivu RIBS pleks bonk)belong in a womens league??

Savard = Ribs in toughness at least? but savard is further along in development and is faster and better.
ever watch hockey??

well with our womens league centerman this season we made the playoffs and took carolina to 6 games and played them tough the whole time. with another small but fast and tough center after koivu went down.....Begin.

Not bad for womens leagers hahahahaha

either your a joker or you havent thought about the new NHL. It has changed and i'd take a lineup of fast tough average sized centers with loads of talent over a bunch of Big slower tougher centers with less talent.

We don't need someone who refuses to get in shape. Specially that he'll ask for a long term deal.

I'd much prefer a top D and letting Plek/Ribs fight for the #2 job if he's the only good C available.

For the 4th time, No.

Marc Savard, despite his numbers last year, played with Kovalchuk! He's also known as a poison in a room.

Not much of an improvement over Ribeiro... And he's gonna be more expensive.

Have you ever watched Savard play? He's not very fast, and he isn't better than Ribs. Guy plays with Kovalchuk and Hossa (2 of the best wingers in the world), his stats imo mean very little.

There a thread on the Thrashers board about Savard. Here the most useful bit of info:

Quote:
His numbers are highly inflated due to his linemates, but he would still put up 70pts. playing a full season with Minnesota. He got 27g last year, so he's no slouch. He's a terrific playmaker, and one might think that Kovy's numbers were inflated due to Savvy because Kovy had real problems with his one-timer this year. Savard helped Kovy too.

All that said, Savard is a real problem. He may be one of the worst first line players defensively in the entire NHL. Then, he takes many selfish retaliatory penalties. An alarming amount, for a player who doesn't get his nose dirty in the trenches at all. He's a game killer as much as he's a game breaker.

Don Waddell hasn't given Savard any glowing reviews all years despite his "output".
Put him with Ryder and he'll rack up an aweful lot of points. My biggest beef with Savy is the fact he's taking too many stupid penalties and is bad on defence.

Savard will make Ribeiro look like Jere Lehtinen

Totally agreed. Those who bash Ribeiro for his lack of strenght and his soft plays will bite their tongues over a 4 millions a year Savard.
