yay, another day, another crazy rumor from RDS. I thought we would have acquired Arnott's UFA rights by now. Or Tremblay would be our assistant!

wow! Gainey must really have a plan, add that to the Lecavaler + Bertuzzi + Gagne rumors (other thread)

They are aware that he's property of the Philly flyers I hope.

During the second intermission the Satellite Hot Stove gang surmised that the Habs are interested in both Arnott and Langenbrunner, citing the Dallas connections. I found it intersting that Montreal was singled out - I sure would like to see Langenbrunner on the Habs, perhaps Arnott.

Honestly, Gagne would fit great on this team. We can't always rely on Ryder to pop goals in for us. Gagne's lethal scoring finish is what this team is craving.

I predict this thread goes over 100 replies.

Best player? I'd say Forsberg

Future? Gagné will be an UFA in a couple of year and they have Pitkanen, Carter, Richards etc. Also, Gagné is an RFA so he won't be a bargain anymore.

I would'nt be very surprised to see Gagné go. He's a very reliable player but he can't take a team on his shoulders.

Yep. And with Richards and other contracts he'll ask for a lot.

we have enough cap space no?

Remember that we were already 3 M $ under the cap, 3 M $ saved on Theo trade + cap is going up by about 4-5 M $ so we have 10-11 M $ to spend ..

that's without us trading salary away (Aebischer, Ribeiro, Zednik , Bonk(if get traded))

and Bulis's money will prolly go towards a Langenbrunner contract..

mmmm..interesting ... I wonder if Gainey will just offer him a contract or maybe Clarke will accept a package of Ryder + 1st + .... making thinking that Ryder can replace Gagne's goalscoring if you put Ryder with Forsberg

Maybe it would be more appropriate if you added that Demers himself labeled the rumor as ridiculous and it was brought up as an example of how wild the rumors are spreading nowadays...

Btw, aren't teams blocked from trading NHL players / players rights until the playoffs are over? I'm not sure about that one...

langenbrunner would be great...........

Arnot means ribs is bye bye in a trade.

Arnot will be at least 4 million to 5 million.

Ribs will be resigned for 2 - 2.5 million (im pretty sure he is a restricted free agent) if he isn't a restricted free agent he is even cheaper.

I'm not sure who i would rather have honestly..
Ribs can still improve, arnot is declining if not just about too.

Maybe im wrong and Arnot will be the big first line center we have lacked for a long time. or he could be another Great 4th line center a la Bonk

or somewhere inbetween. but what could ribs do with another year of learning under his belt, and a fresh new start with Carbonneau.

Ribeiro re-signed for between 2-2.5M??? Gainey would be fired on the spot!!!!!

Ribeiro isn't even going to be given a qualifying offer!!

All the antics Ribeiro pulled under Julien and the recent "I don't need a dad" comment about Carbonneau has sealed Ribeiro's fate!! He's a goner, no question!!

From what ive heard from the stove the Habs are really interested in Langenbrunner because they know him very well and he know Carbo and co. and he would be cheap like Carter or Selanne last off-season.

The other guy talked about Arnott but it looked more like speculation with Koivu injury and all .

they are not able to trade but they can talk trade i guess. they dont stop working because of the finals.

im sorry i havnt heard demers saying it was ridiculous. if he did, im sorry. i remember him saying (moi je ne pars pas de rumeur)(i dont start rumors myself) but dont remember him saying it was bs.

why in the hell he would say this if he thinks its bs. i mean, come on jacques.

I never fought it would be possible. Rds trowing urond more rumors than the montreal canadien forum at hfboards.

If we could some how sign both of them and add them to the core we allready have it would inded be a wonderful summer. But for some reason I dont really see these free agents signing here. After so many summers of hoping and expecting the habs to sign a stud free agent my optimisim is faiding quickly. Im preparing myself to not be disapointed come the end of summer cause god nows when it comes to attracking key free agents the habs have done a horrible job at it. Actualy I would be the hapiest man if all we did was sign cristobal huet.
