Luongo on the Block...Rangers Mentioned!?

Article mentions Keenan is checking the market for Luongo and states that the Rangers are being talked about, among other teams:

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald...s/14856556.htm

I'm going to go ahead and assume that throwing the Rangers in there is pure crap and is only because of our free-spending days of the past.

Montoya to FLA for Luongo. Then ship Luongo to Ottawa for Havlat to play along side Elias [wakes up from dream now]

Montoya and Pock for Luongo. Then ship Luongo to Tampa for Lacavialier.

I like your thinking, I wonder what else that scenerio would realistically cost?

A proposed this exact deal to the Ottawa Board two months ago.

The general consensus with the Sens fans was luke warm

and why wouldn't Florida make any of these trades?

I think the part we're being pessimistic about is what we do with Luongo. Although, you never knoe how much Florida would want for Roberto.

It safe bet that they would want more than Pock and Montoya. Maybe Tyutin and Prucha.

You are correct sir, I forgot what I put Montoya and Pock in my previous post.

This is from Florida's board:

From Sportsnet.ca:

"The Vancouver Canucks will provide the most fodder for the rumour mill with Dan Cloutier and Todd Bertuzzi already speculated to be a part of any deal.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, desperately in need of goaltending, will most certainly make a play. However, the team that comes up with the magic formula will do so at a stiff price."

If Cloutier and Bert...

are rumored, then the ticket would be way more than Montoya and Pock. More like Montoya, Tyutin and Prucha, unless, of course, Florida is looking for a goalie to step in today, and that's a transaction I wouldn't do.

I'd hate to give Ottawa their last piece of the puzzle to own the cup for the next decade........ if THEY want Luongo, they're gonna have to pay for it.. hope Florida's thinking the same

There was mention last year of the Rangers inquiring on Luongo before the situatuion with FL got settled in arbitration. However, with Lundquist's emergence, it seems just wishful thinking probably on Luongo/Lupiens part b/c of money, location, and NYs location and history.

Luongo would cost Lundquist, not Montoya...unless Montoya came with Prucha+. FL would want a starter, really.

If I was NYR, though Luongo's better than Lund in my eyes...this was Lunds first year in the NHL and he was terrific. He also is cheaper, younger, and your team chemistry is good. I wouldn't change a thing. However, if FL was bent on Montoya, I'd make the deal if Mont+ and deal him elsewhere as to gain pieces to settle out Rangers rougher edges.

how about Montoya, Jessiman, Pock to Florida for Weiss, Kamil Kreps and 2ed round. Id love to get Horton and Stewart but that wont happen. Weiss been on the block for a while.

montoya is exactly everything florida could ever hope for a cuban american franchise goaltender of the future in miami!?!?! if they can't keep luongo you can be sure that he's everythign they could ever want in his place. now if the rangers are smart they trade montoya, jessiman and their first rounder for luongo and then dangle luongo for a boatload ottawa would probably give up havlat and their first maybe more. tampa would give up lecavalier and pretty much anything else you wanted in a heart beat. not to mention the others. no team could give florida a better deal imo in regards to what montoya could bring to that organization.

He's everything they want other than the fact that he has not played a game in the NHL yet.

yea guys. lets just give up on lundqvist, out vezina candidate goalie. Honestly why would we waste players to get an all star goalie when we already have a younger, cheaper all star goalie. I cant believe were even discussing this possibility. Trade for things we need guys, not for what we already have.

I just read on the Florida board that Luongo passed up a 6+ four year deal, and that he wants a no trade clause. If that's true, pass.

if we got him, it would be to trade to another team to get a skater. ie Tampa or Ottawa.

The last piece yes, but how many pieces do they have to remove to make cap room. They would almost dismantle a cup contending team to work him in. You would see Havlat and one of Chara/Redden removed for this season and then when Spezza and other youngins reach those cash in ages even more gets removed.

if Lundqvist isn't the goalie next year, I'll flip out.
