interesting UFA (under-rated)

We all hope that Bob Gainey will land the BIG player. But we are not talking of underated UFA available. I think that we will land some of those players as they fit the type of players Carbo, Muller and Gainey like!

Here'S a list:

The Oilers Italian Stallion! FERNANDO PISANI. Good hard working guy. offensive touch and gritty.

Ottawa's Best Brian Pothier 35 pts, +29

Oliers JAroslav Spacek 42 pts, above 10 goals. Smart dmen with off skills. good penalty killer.

Vancouver Jarko Ruutu. It's simple this is a mix of Begin, Domi, Dale Hunter and Darcy Tucker. From Finland....friends with Koivu.

JAmie Langenbrunner...a type of player that Gainey and Carbo likes
Jason Arnott...see above

JAy McKee..If you need 2 goalies on the ice at the same time McKee is your man... I remember one game against the HAbs he blocked 11 shots!!!

Kim Johnsson...often hurt but when playing is one of the best Dmen!

Ruslan Salei.....want a hard hitting dman?

BRendan Shanahan... This would be unbelievable!

Joe Corvo...underated....had an awesome year in LA! 40 pts, 12goals

Pisani will remain with edmonton, but that's a decent list of players who could have a place with the team.

Good list.

But you're wrong for Johnsson, he is not often hurt....http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/...ame=nhl-flyers

This year his the first year he miss so much games....because of an eye problem if I remember.....So yes it's a very good D-man, but B.Clarke will not let him go

ABSOLUTLY no neeed of Corvo or Pothier here. We have enuff number 6 dman. Salei want abut 3M for 3y if the rumors are right, and its way too much. The guy pass underrated to overrated so quickly.

McKee will be ridiculisly overpaied, no need of another overpaid player. I have doubt in Arnott' desire to play, he seems to have good season only at the end of his contract.

We have enuff grinder. Not place for Ruutu.

The only player on this list I take for the right price is Shanahan, Johnsson, Spacek, Pisani and Langenbrunner.

I would be happy if they sign at least one: Jamie Langenbrunner

And if I can dream more: Patrick Elias

As for a d-man, only a trade of one of our existing d-men will bring a UFA in Montreal

pisani not a chance hometown boy he will stick in ed

Spacek - id take him in a heart beat but your heart might stop when you see the contract he will be asking for

Jarko Ruutu- were goona really need a fighter if we sign him . habs dont have the players to stand up for themselves when ruutu starts his antics. love to have a team capable of playing that style tho .

JAmie Langenbrunner- i could see him in the habs jersey very soon

JAy McKee - toronto

Ruslan Salei - possible

BRendan Shanahan - cant see it

corvo - la fans claims he's nuts .

If we're dreaming I'd love to get any two of Elias, Arnott and Salei.

Any of Arnott, McKee, Langenbrunner And Elias would be nice. I would think BG has an excellent chance to lure the 2 ex Stars here.

Elias will prob be too expensive and out of reach. Same for Mckee, though after Elias, he would prob make the biggest impact on the Habs imo. He would be the anchor and shutdown D man we desperately still need.

(Kim Jonnson would be nice too but there's no really room....esp w Streit signed....though Streit may well bump Dandy at some point next season).

McKee will not leave Buffalo (especially not for Toronto); fan favorite, he will be resigned.

but, let us all dream of Spacek... one day... he will be ours.

28-Jan-06: Dizzyness, left Saturday's game.
28-Jan-06: Missed 3 games (concussion).
21-Jan-06: Concussion, day-to-day.

this in not what i call a eye problem...this is a concussion..and a good one...

Oh God no !! He's as much a one-on-one liability as Souray but without the upside. I hate Spacek ! Despise him !!! That would be an awful pick up.

I think the list is pretty good and I would like the Habs getting their hands on Langenbrunner, or to a lesser extent Ruutu. Energy guys who can play, you can not have too many of those !!

Plus on defense, if we can't retain Bouillon or decide to move one of the others, Salei could come in handy, I think. Plays tough, can skate and makes a good first pass; looked good to me in the playoffs !!

edit: I forgot about Pisani : I always loved him !! I'm a big Oil fan. Too bad he scored all those goals (for nothing !!!). Now he'd get overpaid on the market but won't leave Edm anyway.

I'm a big fan of his aswell I thought he was amazing during the playoffs which probably really increased his price.

I'd love to see Corvo, one of more underatted dmen in the league although LA's d was terrible last year so I think they''ll try to resign him

McCauley is an underdog UFA I like. Should come reasonable priced, provide 50-60 pts, two way center

Spacek is my favourite player from that list too. I wanted him on the deadlines and still do after seeing what he could do for Oilers. We could really use another Markov type defenceman - even more than physical Salei type.

So much Langenbrunner love? The guy is barely a 2nd line winger...He has trouble scoring 20 goals and I don't think he's ever made it through a whole season. He steps it up in the playoffs, I'll give you that...But we already have to deal with the lack of goal and injury proneness of Koivu. If 2 of our top 6 guys have the same problems, it'll be bad times for Montreal.

I just posted this in another thread, but Marc Chouinard, to me, is another very underrated UFA. His career numbers are not all that impressive, but I like his game a lot, and feel he has a good deal of offensive upside/potential that hasn't been showcased in Minnesota's defensive-minded system. Should Ribeiro be dealt and no better options available to us, I wouldn't mind seeing Marc and Plekanec competing for the #2 job.

McKee, Langenbrunner, Ruutu, Pisani, Arnott....these guys aren't underrated.

Also, if we want to talk about guys we want to sign, we should be thinking about where they will fit with the team.
