Sutter suprised me. Never thought Leopold would leave, especially to a team in our division.

wow...Didn't see Tanguay coming. The trading history between these two clubs continues.

Best of luck to Leopold .

Good move for Calgary. Getting rid of a guy who doesn't get along with Sutter, and picking up some SWEET hands in Tanguay. Finally the guy to pair with Iginla.

Good luck Calgary.

I feel sorry for fans of other divisions other than the NW. This NW is C.R.A.Z.Y.

Congrats for Tanguay. As an Avs fan, I'll definitely miss him. He just didn't seem to perform to his regular season prowess in the post-season in the last few years.

Hopefully he'll be a strong part of your team.

Sutter said a few days ago, don't expect any big name trades. Man that guy has some explaining to do....NOT. With a trade like that, who cares.

Tanguay-Langkow-Iginla
Huselius-Lombardi-Kobasew

2 really skilled lines.

Does anyone know what Tanguays contract status is??

what does leopold bring to the avs? i know he's skilled, fast...which is what the avs needed on defense. however, i think his potential (despite being 25 years old) is limited. i've seen him play a couple times and was impressed with him...but not enough to justify a trade for tanguay in exchange for jordan and two second round picks.

That trade does solve a lot of problems for the Flames. Now they do have some scoring depth. Third and fourth lines have some scoring potential depth too with Lundmark waiting in the wings.

You will be surprised. Very good skills - has not near hit his stride yet. Could have a very big upside in the right situation.

I think the real trade is the two 2nd round picks here. The Avs are confident (as they said) that they believe that they can get an NHL-calibre player with said 2nd rounder.

I'm hurt because Tangs was one of my favorite players...but this is a business. The Avs D is slowly getting younger (Leopold, Vaananen, Liles)...Seeing a trend here? Blake brings offense, we know that Clark can bring offense, Liles and Leopold can (well, SHOULD bring offense)... I think we can assume that the Avs are trying to move their D into an offensive mind.

I think this trade benefits both teams, perhaps Tanguay needed out, and the Avs found him to be expendable with the emergence of Svatos, and with Wolski most likely staying with the big club next year, and with GM Giguere saying himself that he will probably sign one or two FA's.

Yeah, I think that this is a good trade for both teams, and best of luck to Tanguay going to quite possibly the best Canadian team out there. (I don't care if they're in the same Division no one can deny that Calgary is a great team)

Leo makes 1.05 mil, and has 1 year left before he becomes either a UFA or RFA again. I'm not sure which.

Thank you.

I'm not sure what to think of this trade from a Colorado perspective....I'm still taking it all in.

It will hurt playing against Leopold on the Avs, but sometimes you get offered a player too good to pass up. We gave up a very underrated defenseman for a very solid (top 20) forward. This will work out brilliantly for our team, now we just need to strengthen our 4th line and get a good backup.

The big question now for the Flames is, who will play with Regehr, will Ference step into that posistion? And if he does, who will play with Warrener, will it be a UFA/Trade/RFA, Regehr, Giordano, re-sign Marchment? That will be a issue Sutter will have to adress or he has already knows what he is going to do.
