O'Sullivan + 17 for Demitra

What do you think?

Holy ****!!! I like Demitra, but i don't know if I like him at the expense of O'Sullivan. At the very least it proves that DR has some cojones after all.

I think Risebrough had better get his *** out of town before the fans find out where he lives. I'm just sick to my stomach over this. I was so looking forward to this draft, and right now it feels like one of the darkest days of the franchise thus far. I'm just sick about it.

When he's not injured, Pav's is a GREAT player. I was stunned and saddened to hear that he won't be with LA any longer. Best of luck to Pavol in MN!

So's O'Sullivan. And he's half his age.

Me too. And sickened, as well.

I suppose. But I don't want this guy here. It's a good thing I'm not going to any more Wild games, because frankly I'd have a hard time not booing him every time he stepped on the ice.

Wow, that's a lot for somebody you could have signed for nothing last summer.

I don't like this deal for you guys. It will help in the short term, but long term I think Sully will be a very solid NHL scorer.

what do you have against Demitra other than this being an unbalanced trade?

Nothing - he's a terrific player, and I'd have loved to have had him here under any other circumstances. It's the way we got him that makes me want to throw up, and I'll never be able to watch the guy without being reminded of how badly the team got screwed in the getting of him.

I know it's not his fault, but if the price of having him here is losing O'Sullivan, I don't want him here. This is the stupidest thing Risebrough has ever done, and Demitra will be the constant reminder of that incredible stupidity.

Nobody is giving up on him. It's got to be a desperation thing. It's all about landing Gaborik's friend.

Demitra:
-better 2-way game
-Gaborik's friend
-will prob. score more points this year

O'Sullivan:
-a decade younger
-will be more of a goal scorer
-doesn't have a history of injuries/concussions
-we would also have a quality player at #17

Doesn't seem to balance out for me. I just don't understand why we couldn't make Gaborik-O'Sullivan work. Or why not a Gaborik-Elias? I hope to God that O'Surly lights us up for a hat trick for the next ten years.

Wow...not real good...for many different reasons...if this doesn't get Gabby signed long term, man...hopefully we won't be looking back on this one as the one that slipped away.

I'll go on record right now and say that O'Sully will outscore him every year until he retires...

I like Demitra, but wow...waaaaaaaaaaaay too much.

“I think the significance is they know each other,” said Risebrough. “They’ve played together in Trencin, they’ve played together over the lockout, and they’ve played together at the World Championships and the Olympics. They know each other pretty well and I think it will help make them both productive. They are a good fit and they’ll feed off each other.”

“Marian’s the best player on the team, and we know that. We’re trying to find ways to make him better and this is one of those opportunities.”

The move for the three-time 30+ goal scorer didn’t come without a price. The club gave up arguably its most promising prospect that never played a game with the team in Patrick O’Sullivan.

“It was very tough to give him up,” admitted Risebrough. “Patrick has really come on. There was some doubt about his background, but this kid is a quality kid that really developed this year. I think he’s going to be a good player. It’s just a difference between getting someone that can fit now rather than down the road.”

“I don’t want him to take it as a reflection on him because he’s going in the right direction. I think he appreciated that we took a chance on him and he told me that ‘you’ll never be disappointed.’ I don’t want him to think that we were disappointed. We weren’t disappointed.”

Then my question to ownership and Doug would be, Why the **** didn't you sign him when he was a UFA?

WOW

Could be the worst trade in Wild history...

future will tell

I'm already sold on O'sullivan but I can't imagine how this guy can't be a star in this league...

I hear ya. I guess this is my punishment for rooting against the Oilers just for the sake of landing the #17. If we get the #30, Patrick O'Sullivan is still on the roster, we might have picked Sneep at #30, and this team would still be under the gun to sign a top-flight free agent.

This trade might be fair if Patty was still seen as a high-risk kid, who might be damaged goods, whose game still has a long ways to go. But this isn't 2003, it's 2006. O'Sullivan is a can't miss prospect when it comes to goal scoring. The rest of his game has and might continue to mature as well........plus the #17

I don't think there's any way LA would trade away Demitra for just the 17th.

Reaper you better thank gaborik for this. He got you a very good young player. The Wild did this for Gaborik.
