2nd & 3rd Round

As much as I HATE the trade, and even though I'm not a big fan of Sheppard at #9, I will at least concede that Fiala and Clutterbuck in the 2nd & 3rd rounds is outstanding. I never would've dreamed of landing those two this deep.

I still feel like somebody just died though.

Fiala

Everett season ticket holder here... I think Fiala at number 40 is a steal. I thought Phoenix was going to take him at 29. He was hurt much of this year (knee) and would have put up better numbers. He should have a good year here in Everett this next season.

I thought he was a surefire candidate for Calgary at #26. Heck, I wouldn't have been shocked if the Wild would have taken him w/ the #17. Sounds like a perfect fit for our system. How far away do you think he is? One year in Everett. One year in Houston?

Does Fiala project to be a pesky checker type with some offense? I know he's apparently a very good skater. Walz's future replacement, with grit?

exactly what i was thinking Bookman. I think he has the upside to eventually center a Gaborik line. But if not, I think he would make a great Wes Walz Jr., or a great depth line center if either Bailey or Wilson are up to the checking line gig.

I like a future checking line of:

Veilleux
Fiala
Irmen

can shutdown, throwdown, and (w/ Fiala & Irmen) even contribute some secondary scoring.

Especially if it's the Veilleux of the last 10 games or so - if he can play like that for 82 games, we'll have something special.
