What a joke. His hit was no less intentional that Mcsorelys was. The Nucks should be pissed at this. The only thing that seperates the two is that HS wasn't knocked out.

So in the end, the ends justify the means. "He was hooking me all the way up the ice". I guess that means that the next time Weight puts a hook on someone they should try to knock his head off and then say "he didn't miss a shift" or some other lame ass comment. I lost all respect for him.

Why? He did it, and he should have to pay for it. 4 games isn't enough, but it's about what you can expect from this NHL.

I think it's fair what he got..I'm just asking if it's an option for him

I think he deserved 5-6 but 4 is pretty fair. Good call.

Weight should have been suspend for 15 games. The NHL needs to send a message to all NHL players, even superstar players who normally get pampered, that things like this are unacceptable and will not be tolerated...

There are some here who, had Weight gotten 30 games, would be complaining that it still wasn't enough.

4 games is fine, as long as the next person who does something similar gets 4 I won't have a problem with this. (Comment on inconsistent decisions by the NHL regarding suspensions for similar acts throughout the years reserved for later.)

Im ok with it. 2 would have been too low and 7-8 too high. Somewhere in between is ok.

Very fair. Irish Blues had it right, so long as they are consistant, we as fans have nothing to worry about.

4 games is more than fair, though I would suggest that had Henrik gotten a broken jaw or something, it could have been much, much worse. Weight does have a history of using his stick as a weapon twice now, and the third time may result in a huge suspension.

For those calling for more, you have to take into account the fact that Weight hasn't had any suspensions for more.

If it was Keith, he would have gotten more.

Mizral is right, this is his SECOND offence in using his stick as a weapon. I hope that it doesn't happen again but, if it does, that he is out for a very very long time. Ten games or a little more would be right. Even better would have been if someone would have come and beaten the hell out of him for it. Thus the message would be sent AND he would think twice before doing again, at least, when he was playing the Canucks.

If that were true, Bryan Marchment would have gotten at least 15 games the last time he got called to the league office. (He got 6 for elbowing Shane Willis.)

After all....he's only been nailed for kneeing three times and got 3, 8, and 3 games respectively but I'm sure that 3rd kneeing suspension for 3 games really taught him a lesson.

Marchment's career suspensions

Tkachuk got 4 for cross-checking Walz in the throat last year.

Just for reference, I guess.

And Walz admitted after the game that (a) it wasn't nearly as bad as it looked, (b) Tkachuk pulled up before hitting him, and (c) he didn't think Tkachuk deserved a suspension for it.

Someone is going to pound the crap out of him next time the two teams meet, in order to atone for the 2 or 3 games he didn't get. 4 is weak IMO because as Mecca pointed out, had this been an Oliwa or a Hatcher even, it would've been at least 6 and probably more like 8 or 10. Double-standard, especially for a guy who has done this sort of thing before.

I don't see the relevance to what the players think of it, the way things are run. And, just for info, he made those comments before seeing the replay, then afterwards hedged back a bit. Still, Walz is a good guy and basically said "**** happens during hockey games." I don't think he'd actually come right out and say "Suspend him."

I was just bringing it up because A) Tkachuk has a bit of a reputation for moves like that and B) I didn't think the Weight move was all that heavier or worse than Tkachuk's. Thought it would make an interesting comparison.

Sure. The Blues are just going to let someone "pound the crap out" of Weight. You've got to be kidding me.
